THOR Solutions is actively seeking an Engineering Technician V (Electrical) with experience in operating, troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and assessing US Navy Auxiliary equipment including, but not limited to, Cargo/Weapons Elevators, Aircraft Elevators, Deck Edge Doors, Hanger Bay Divisional Doors, Vertical Package Conveyors, 5-inch Ammunition Strikedown Equipment, and CIWS Mount Skipboxes at Norfolk, VA.
The candidate's responsibilities may include (but are not limited to) performing or supporting the following actions: Conduct Fleet Technical Assistance on-site or via distance support as required, to include engineering/technical evaluations, equipment functional checks, troubleshooting, test, analysis, and equipment repairs as tasked. Conduct Assessments, Inspections, and Grooms determining equipment condition and out of specification settings; observe operation of the equipment by ship's force to witness the full range of performance, when possible; utilize appropriate measuring equipment to obtain data for evaluation; evaluate findings and make adjustments and repairs to the maximum extent possible during the time available. Provide On-The-Job Training (OJT) to Ship's Force technicians in the operation, repair, and maintenance of the different systems supported by the branch. Assist with the preparation and adjudication of Departures from Specifications (DFS), Engineering Support Requests (ESRs), and review of work items/process control procedures (PCPs) when required, including development of risk assessments. Provide a Monthly Status Reports Location: On site at Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) in Norfolk, VA. Typical Physical Activity: Primarily desk/computer work in an office environment. May involve: repetitive motion. Periodic visits to waterfront/shipboard environments. May involve: traversing shipboard environments (e.g., confined spaces, ladders, hatches) or vision. Security Clearance Eligibility Required: This position requires a DoD Secret security clearance. A qualified candidate must either:  Already possess an active or interim Secret security clearance (preferred);  OR be eligible for a Secret security clearance upon hire.  Required Education, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:  High school diploma/GED equivalent or relevant U.S. Navy technical school diploma/certification. Associate's degree, technical school diploma, or vocational certificate in a relevant discipline is preferred. A minimum five (5) years (accumulated within the last seven (7) years) of demonstrated, specialized, hands-on experience and proof of expertise operating, troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and assessing US Navy Auxiliary equipment including, but not limited to, Cargo/Weapons Elevators, Aircraft Elevators, Deck Edge Doors, Hanger Bay Divisional Doors, Vertical Package Conveyors, 5-inch Ammunition Strikedown Equipment, CIWS Mount Skipboxes, and other assigned equipment as directed. Familiar with current U.S. Navy elevator, door, and conveyor terminology, including the following: Terms defined and used in Naval Ships' Technical Manual (NSTM) Chapter 772, NSTM Chapter 700, NSTM Chapter 588, NSTM chapter 572, NSTM chapter 300, and MIL-E-17807. Terms used in Common Assessment Procedures, System Operability Tests, and applicable portions of the General Specifications for Overhaul (GSO). Demonstrated experience working in the official capacity of a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the aforementioned systems/equipment/components for a US Navy Engineering Activity, US Navy Shipboard Engineering Department, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), or industrial/commercial equivalent.? Ability to utilize computers including the Microsoft Office Suite for compiling information for reports and history files and transfer digital pictures from camera to computer and enhance as required and label them for report purposes. Demonstrate an ability to interpret wiring diagrams, control schematics and plans and the ability as Subject Matter Expert (SME) to troubleshoot, analyze and provide distance support for listed equipment.
