Seeking a mechanical technician responsible for the installation,maintenance, and repair of a wide variety of electro-mechanical equipment and systems. You'll use your technical skills and knowledge to diagnose problems, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions.  You will assist Engineers in various tasks as well as support operational needs of the engineering site.This position is on-site 5 days a week in Rhode Island.Responsibilities:Builds prototypes for moderately difficult projects and performs moderately difficult modifications to prototypes.Can interface with and Design items in CAD tools Pro-E or SolidworksFamiliarity with electronics and PythonHelps develop and implement new tools to aid analysis and problem solving.Builds, calibrates, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs instruments or testing equipment of moderate difficulty.Employs technical knowledge and experience to anticipate and solve problems.Uses advanced tools and techniques to develop test plans and analyze results.Inspect/modify parts and incorporate into prototype construction. Assist in debugging prototypes under an engineer's guidance.Assist Engineers in designing and constructing of fixtures of an electro-mechanical nature including assembly, electrical wiring, and operation of supporting electronic equipment such as oscilloscopes, strain gage amplifiers, and PC's. Set up, conduct, and record information on component and system testing.Conduct testing of prototype models or components under the direction of a Engineer. While conducting tests, provide written observations via accurate records in log books per Departmental Standards. Prepare reports, graphs, and other Engineering analysis on spreadsheets and on other PC generated formats. Produce required documentation in a thorough manner within the prescribed time as deemed by the Mechanical Engineer.Organize and maintain lab facilities and equipment. Calibrate and perform preventative servicing to equipment as needed or specified by policy. Maintain in accordance with Departmental procedure. Ensure the integrity of lab equipment and test setup by usage of proper procedure regarding calibration and setup of test equipment, compliance to set test protocol and compliance to set procedure regarding proper printer operation and evaluation.Inspect parts for compliance to specification including the usage of micrometers, height gages, calipers, plug gages, strain gages, feeler gages, and microscopes.Assist Mechanical Engineers in the development of cost effective, manufacturable, parts and assemblies in compliance with specifications and regulatory requirements.Support engineering pilot runs with respect to fixturing, produce parts, and re-work parts, and printer debug.
