The Engineering Manager directs the work of the engineering department, maintenance department, and advises management of engineering and maintenance problems or concerns. Specifically, they are responsible for all Engineering functions, facilities engineering and maintenance and is the principal of production design, production cost analysis, production cost reduction, planning and implementation of periodic inspections, repair, and management of maintenance costs. Duties and responsibilities Direct, assist, apportions, and follow up on the work among engineering staff according to specialized training. Establishes and implements requirements for new equipment, tooling, or methods of manufacturing. Manages the acquisition, installation, bringing on-line, and maintenance of new equipment. Manages the designs of facilities layout for installation of equipment. Develop functional improvements for production machines to increase productivity and output quality. Maintains and reports to management timely cost analyses for production and manufacturing improvements. Manage the plant maintenance program and participate in ISO 9000 and 14000 activities. Responsible for arranging or assuring that all plant maintenance projects are completed properly and on a timely basis. Create and maintain a comprehensive plant safety program. Ensure safety compliance with all federal, state, and local authorities and insurance carriers. Write and maintain a manual outlining policies and procedures for the operation of the machines. Conduct periodic safety inspections of the plant and production machines. Prepares reports for management and consults on improvements geared toward cost reduction. Principal in the investigation and troubleshooting of production problems; or supervises the resolution and correction of mechanical problems. Research and implement advanced technology in tooling, automation, and mechanization to reduce the cost of manufacturing. Assist in the establishment of specifications and standards to comply with manufacturing capabilities. Manage the maintenance department and create maintenance plans for the facility and production machines. Regularly tabulate maintenance costs and report to management. Qualifications Preferred: Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience in an Engineering discipline. 3 years of management experience preferred in a 24/7 multi shift manufacturing operation. Mechanical and electrical aptitude Demonstrated competence in supervising 10+ employees. Strong written & verbal communication skills The ability to follow written and verbal instructions. 10 years of related engineering functions preferred. Knowledge of and experience in repairing and troubleshooting equipment. Must be proficient with MS Office Reasoning ability – the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to work independently and take appropriate corrective action when minor problems arise Supervisory Responsibilities
The Engineering Manager supervises the Engineers and the Maintenance team. Safety Requirements
Due to the nature of the work performed in this job, the employee is required to wear safety glasses, safety gloves, hearing protection when needed, and ANSII-approved steel or composite-toed footwear while on the production floor.
The hiring range for this position is $90,000 to $120,000 per year. This range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
