Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative is seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of Engineering Field Technician I-II in our Fort Huachuca location in Sierra Vista.
The Engineering Field Technician is a technical position that performs work in the field involving engineering, primarily related to maintenance, inspection, GIS mapping, design, and field staking of electrical distribution overhead and underground power lines. This position interacts with members and designs line extensions. Inspects distribution line facilities to ensure maintenance is completed and clearances are met. Manages and expedites all assigned projects with accuracy and professionalism.
The essential functions listed below are general examples and not a description of comprehensive duties.
Plans, designs and field stakes irrigation and/or commercial and/or residential electrical facilities, while ensuring that projects adhere to the terms of the line extension policy and all designs are accurate and efficient. Communicates, interacts, and follows internal procedures to convey line extension policy and requirements to members, line extension applicants, electricians, contractors and others. Utilize StakeOut staking software and other tools to create, revise, and complete as-built work orders, line design, and cost estimates from the initial design through construction completion, and work order closeout. Engineering Field Technician I requirements are a high school diploma or equivalent, and two (2) years related electric utility, construction design, and/or land surveying experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Engineering Field Technician II requirements are an Associate's degree in engineering or related technical field, and five (5) years related electric utility, construction design, and/or land surveying experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge and experience in mapping (GIS) are desirable. A valid Arizona driver's license is required.
