Role Summary: The R&D Engineer Summer Intern is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of new leading-edge product technology throughout the pump product portfolio in order to provide a competitive advantage to the corporation. This position will coordinate closely with the Engineering teams of the Pump Division (FPD) and Innovation & Technology (I&T) to prioritize the work with the business objectives and strategic initiatives of the operations. Responsibilities: Exploration & research of emerging technologies for application in existing or future products Provide 3-D modeling, printing, and analysis to support development initiatives and custom production projects. Design and analysis of experimental test rigs new pump product lines, product line enhancements, and exploration of new technologies. Assist with development & execution of prototype test plan, as well as, reduction of data, drawing conclusions &/or recommendations for future work through a summative technical report. Requirements: Knowledge of machine design and analysis using state of the art CAE / CAM tools Excellent time management and organization skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Meet established schedules. Working with suppliers and manufacturing facilities. Working towards BSME. Must be a self-motivated contributing team member. Organizational and planning skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Fluent in 3D modeling and FEA is a plus. Familiarity with additive manufacturing techniques a plus.
