By joining our District 9, Engineering Support Branch, Traffic Engineering and Permits Section as an Engineer-In-Training II in Fleming County, you'll have the opportunity to review, analyze, and perform intermediately complex engineering activities and work to obtain and develop professional engineering techniques.
Holders of the Engineer-In-Training II position will complete tasks such as: Review, analyze, and perform complex engineering work to develop practical skills within a specialized area. Oversee portions of specific engineering related functional areas to analyze and ensure conformance to approved plans and engineering standards. Perform traffic engineering-related work related to the district's striping, signal, and signing programs. Review permits-related work ensuring adherence to state regulations, policies, and guidelines. Holders Of This Job Will Obtain The Following Skills Experience performing intermediate complex engineering practices within specialized areas. Experience evaluating traffic data to make engineering decisions that comply with state and federal policies and guidelines. Experience working with the public, engineers, and other governmental officials in solving traffic-related issues to improve the safety, efficiency, and reliability of our district's transportation system. Experience working with encroachment permit applicants to ensure compliance with state and federal construction standards and environmental best practices. Desired candidates should possess the following requisite skills or experience applicable to the position: Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Communication with public and government officials Ability to prioritize tasks Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have two years of engineering experience as an Engineer-In-Training. Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A master's degree in engineering will substitute for one year of the required experience. Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification. Certification as an Engineer-In-Training recognized by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.
