JOB SUMMARY The Energy Project Manager provides functional expertise for Marriott managed hotel building automation projects, manages our Marriott hosted Building Automation System ( BAS ) server, performs various data analysis, drives evaluation, adoption, and expansion of renewable generation, leads emerging technology vetting process, facilitates all automation installation milestones, trains incoming BAS system operators, owns new system commissioning and targeted ongoing BAS monitoring. Facilitation of the formal Energy ROI preparation and submittal / presentation process is also a key function which helps us to secure owner investment in our facilities. The benefits the position brings to the brands is 1) consistency and efficiency in securing valuable utility incentives, 2) expanding automation scale, scope and competitive value while reducing cost through consistent direction oversight, prioritization and planning 3) Identifies viable renewable energy markets, incentives, and vendors 4) Provide targeted training and resources to improve controls optimization, team skills growth, hotel energy efficiency and profitability. The Energy Project Manager reports to the Senior Director of Energy & Sustainability.
Specifically, the Energy Project Manager will provide leadership to these areas
1. Researching and maximizing Marriott's participation in renewable energy incentive programs.
2. Expanding Demand Response funded automation platform by educating, enabling, and influencing property teams towards wider program participation
3. Working with national scale automation vendors to prepare and presenting compelling owner portfolio automation and efficiency investment business cases.
4. Supporting all major automation vendor and building control related projects (contractor coordination, contract execution, commissioning, training, and project close-out)
5. Leading the vetting of emerging energy & water efficiency technologies through collaboration with 3rd party testing agent, pilots and modeling.
6. Further development of remote auditing of existing building automation systems, reporting platforms and providing constructive feedback for efficiency improvement
7. Overseeing Marriott hosted Automation server support, permissions, access, and operator training.
8. Develop / inform long term automation strategy by staying abreast of Internet of Things IoT and other potential building system integrations & technologies.
9. Prioritize hotels with greatest ROI opportunity based on factors such as utility rates, presence of incentives, etc.
10. High quality data analysis in support of energy modeling, technology vetting, continent goal setting, ROI projects, utility rebate applications and problem resolution.
CANDIDATE PROFILE Education and Experience Required + 4-year Bachelor's degree in facility management, energy management, sustainability, engineering or other related field
+ 2+ years of project management/administration experience
+ 3+ years Facilities Management or Construction Management experience
+ Ability to travel up to 30% of the time
Preferred + Certified Energy Manager Certification
+ 2+ years lodging or hospitality facilities/industries experience
+ 3+ years building automation system installation, operation and support experience
+ Facility Management Degree or related technical program diploma
+ Project/program management documentation competence. Mastery level with MS Project and or SmartSheet
+ Advanced experience of data analysis utilizing PowerBI, Excel VBA , and or R Suite
+ Familiar with MS Office 365, MS Teams, One Drive, and SharePoint
+ Proficient in organization, analysis and deriving observations and or conclusions from large pools of raw data
+ Ability to organize, distribute, assign, track and ensure completion of work throughout various teams without direct management authority
+ Influence and negotiation skills including at senior organizational levels
+ Ability to gain a clear and comprehensive understanding of Lodging and Brand strategies, priorities and initiatives and represent them to various constituencies across the organization
+ Ability to develop, track and enforce program governance
+ Deep analytical skills for planning, estimating, budgeting, and monitoring program/project work.
+ Ability to enlist and motivate individuals and secure resources without direct authority
+ Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
+ Ability to develop concise, meaningful reports and tracking documentation
+ Fluent speaking and writing in Spanish and Portuguese
+ Thorough understanding of Renewable Energy technologies, funding structures, markets, incentives, programs, rules and opportunities.
+ Experience with validating complex building modeling and technology solution savings claims
+ Ability to construct digital vector graphics models (i.e. Sketch up or equivalent)
+ Experience with manipulating /editing various standard graphics formats
+ Experience with researching viable utility incentive programs that apply to lodging facilities
+ Hands on experience with researching properties equipment components, calculating pertinent values and executing utility rebate applications.
EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS + Research and elevate utility incentive opportunities for the properties, completes application process, assists the properties to reserve funding, coordinates any "utility required" follow-up inspections and or load tests and tracks incentive payments.
+ Assists Senior Energy Director with accurate modeling and calculations for use in Owner Portfolio investment presentations, technology vetting, utility data gap filling, goal calculation and other analysis.
+ Directs the consultants, contractors, and resources to maximize the effective use of capital spending, both escrow & owner funded.
+ Establishes and facilitates a reasonable project mobilization schedule to include vendor proposals, ROI tables, owner approval, funding, execution and close out.
+ Performs data analysis as needed to support team research and or project teams.
+ Develop and deliver property staff level training to improve automation understanding and optimization.
+ Collaborates with Demand Vendors to ensure our eligible hotels are accurately enrolled in the correct programs.
+ Facilitate hotels with assembling scopes, getting automation proposals and assembling complete ROI packages for submittal.
+ Establishes and develops concise and complete periodic reporting metrics on all automation installations, utility incentives, program enrollments, utility fund reservations, ongoing demand event performance and revenues, funding secured and final commissioning.
+ Maintains constructive and engaged presence in all Energy Projects and Energy Group cadence calls, meetings and training opportunities.
+ Accomplishes desired results by setting priorities and managing by exception, effectively managing through people and processes utilizing reliable tools, and leveraging resources and other parts of the organization.
+ Holds high performance expectations, willingly own results, and hold others accountable. Creates and Monitors success metrics for implementation to assure accountability for results
