Responsible for a comprehensive employee relations program for Business Affairs staff.Interprets, communicates, and ensures compliance with applicable employment laws, university regulations, collective bargaining agreements, policies, and procedures.Assists departments with coaching and counseling employees, serves as a mediator at meetings.

Responsibilities
• Assist departments with coaching and counseling employees• Serve as a mediator at meetings• Recommend and draft counseling and disciplinary actions• Investigate disciplinary actions• Prepare comprehensive case summaries• Draft disciplinary actions for department management• Provide advice and counsel regarding leave administration• Assist with coordination of the Workers Compensation Modified Duty Program• Coordinate employee complaints & grievances• Assist with Business Affairs HR Office phone and office coverage
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and one year of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience• Valid Florida Class E driver license• Ability to work well under pressure and effectively communicate during highly stressful situations• Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze data relating to employee relations activities• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing• Ability to work independently• Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments meeting all time constraints• Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze benefit-related data• Ability to establish effective working relationships• Knowledge of human resources management principles and techniques• Ability to apply rules, policies, and procedures• Ability to produce query reports from the HR Management systems (PeopleSoft and Kronos) such as attendance, leave usage, hours, etc.
