Job SummaryPerform preventative maintenance on the following items in classrooms; window coverings, windows, window screens, window locks, floors, covebase, furniture, cabinets, ceilings, walls, doors and door hardware, pencil sharpeners, clocks (change batteries), white/caulk boards (check for damage)Make repairs to a variety of building components, including windows, doors, hardware, floors and floor coverings, ceilings and ceiling tile, toilet partitions, dispensers, plumbing fixtures, ceramic tile, venetian blinds, wood and metal fences, and campus and street signage.Make repairs to walls, including, but are not limited to: sheetrock, wood, metal, concrete, block, tile, stucco, and their coverings etc.Set and pour minor concrete flat work, retaining walls, and make repairs to sidewalks, and building foundations.Work under general supervision of a carpenter to complete complex renovations to buildings, building systems and roofs, install metal and wood wall systems, set windows and door jambs, hang doors, hang sheetrock, hang insulation, construct concrete form work and pour concrete, make structural repairs to buildings, and other related repairs associated with the completion of assigned projects.Ability to work in a team environment, at steady pace, while maintaining quality.Education and ExperienceAny combination of experience and training equivalent to three years of hands-on experience in general facilities and systems maintenance and repair, or comparable experience as a trades assistant or laborer with demonstrated proficiency in the required duties.Possession of a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain by date of hire.This position may require the ability to obtain AHERA Contractor/Supervisor certification for asbestos related work and Cal/OSHA Lead training.Salary:Anticipated Hiring Range: $31.48 per hourClassification Range: $31.48 - $39.57 per hourCal PolyKnown for its Learn by Doing pedagogy, Cal Poly is the flagship of the world-renowned California State University system.
