Elementary STEM Teacher

Responsibilities:
Plan, communicate and carry out effective instruction to maximize learning for all students based on the NM K-5 STEM
ready course map.
Engage and support all students in learning by using a variety of instructional strategic and resources to respond to students'
diverse needs.
Engage students in activities of Scientific Argumentation, Scientific Inquiry, Scientific Innovation, Scientific Collaboration,
Scientific Thinking, and Scientific Literacy.
Facilitate hands-on experiments and projects that allow students to learn by doing and exploring.
Implement a rich array of instructional methods, the analysis and use of data and technology to improve instruction, and the
ability to build professional relationships, solve problems, and plan collaboratively.
Apply science and/or math content knowledge, formative assessment, and technology integration at a high level.
Identify, select, and modify instructional methods, the analysis and use of data and technology to improve instruction, and the
ability to build professional relationships, solve problems, and plan collaboratively.
Apply science and/or math content knowledge, formative assessment, and technology integration at a high level.
Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning
styles, and special needs.
Organize, develop, and coordinate special STEM events and/or activities at the school site.
Provide a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, peers, and community.
Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community.
Collaborate with peers to plan, review, and revise district units of study.
Assume responsibility for meeting his/her course and school-wide student academic performance goals.
Meet professional obligations through evidence of planning, organization, and time management skills that will bring
structure and accountability to the position.
Implement policies, procedures, and mandates as required.
Participate in professional development and pursue opportunities to grow professionally.
Lesson Plans.
Key Relationships:
Reports to the principal.
Interacts daily with students and teaching assistants throughout the school day.
Confers and interacts with parents on a regular basis.
Interacts with school committees, community groups, and school administration when required.
Interacts with other teachers on a regular basis.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree.
Valid NMPED teaching license.
STEM certification(s) from National Institute for STEM Educators (NISE) or other Nationally recognized STEM
Certification Program- Must be completed within one year after hire date.
At least three (3) years of teaching experience with STEM emphasis preferred.
Must be able to interact well with others.
Must be able to follow directions and be punctual
Must have reliable transportation.
Ability to communicate with students and others.
Ability to work independently.
Must be computer literate
Ability to provide clear instruction to students when required.
Ability to work with and interact positively with students, teachers and parents.
Previous experience working with students is recommended.
Able to demonstrate competency in working successfully with people in different settings; has ability to
effectively communicate with people.
Knowledge of the Mescalero Apache people and their culture.
Must be able to pass a background check prior to employment.
Will be required to pass drug test upon employment, then randomly selected.
Must be able to follow all school policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Expert level of technology and 21st century learning understanding and application.
2. Strong Google Apps for Education Skills (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.)
3. Experience or familiarity with tools such as, but not limited to: AutoCad, SketchUp, Codeacademy, Tynker, Scratch,
Hopscotch, Vex, Ozobot, Sphero, Lego Robotics, etc.
Term of Employment:
Nine-month contract
Salary:
Placement on Teaching Salary Schedule
Working Conditions:
Work is accomplished within a school environment
Work could be stressful at times depending on the behavior of students or the type of work expected.
There may be occasional after-school work requiring extra hours beyond the regular school day.
There is at times, a lot of standing and walking required.
There is an expectation of lifting of objects that may be over 50 pounds.
