JOB DESCRIPTION: ELECTRICIAN Electrician installs, services, repairs, replaces, and maintains all electric wiring and electrical equipment such as cranes, public address systems and electric motors.
Electrician installs lights and power lines, electrical outlets, electrical fixtures and hook up disconnects shore power and compressors, welding banks, etc.
Electrician performs all functions of the position in conformity with applicable regulations concerning marine electrical systems and generally observed safety practices.
Essential Functions/Physical Requirements: The individual assigned to the Electrician position must, with or without reasonable accommodation, be able to perform the following Essential Functions:
Comprehend blueprints and sketches.
Enter and work in internally confined spaces.
Manipulate and transport loads of up to 100 pounds over distances of up to 25 feet, approximately 4 times during each 8 hour shift.
Manipulate and operator all machines and tools essential to the performance of the position of Electrician such as:
Hand Tools Knock Out Punches Volt Meter Come-A-Long Band Saw AMP Meter Drill Press Tow-Motor OHM Meter 3-phase Transformers Motor controls A/C and D/C Shipboard cable Shore powering boats Transverse gangways and scaffolding at varying heights. Transverse and negotiate uneven heights between dock and vessel and negotiate uneven surfaces.
Bending and stooping while manipulating various sizes and weights approximately 30-40 times during an 8 hour shift.
Ascend and walk at heights of up to 45 feet.
Other Functions: Comprehend Material Safety Data Sheets.
Enter Round Manholes with inside diameter of 18 inches.
Maneuver around 30' obstructions and 24' frames.
Comprehend and follow confined space policies.
