Your technical expertise, engineering curiosity, and proven own-it attitude will be critical to successful designs that meet the challenging requirements demanded by our customers. Get ready to exercise and grow your electronics and product design know-how in various ways, while helping a passionate team deliver technologies that positively impact Law Enforcement, Public Safety, and their surrounding communities.What You'll DoLocation:Scottsdale, AZ Reports To:Senior Manager, Electrical EngineeringResearch, propose, and develop subsystems and circuit solutions for body worn and/or vehicular products including connected cameras, sensors, and peripheral devices.Using OrCAD Schematic tools, design embedded Mixed-Signal/Analog/Digital electronic circuits that may integrate application processors, high- and low-speed data interfaces (USBx, I2C, SPI), switch-mode and linear power supplies, batteries, audio subsystems, RF subsystems (Cellular, GNSS, Bluetooth), and much more.Team with PCB engineers to define, plan, implement, and inspect printed circuit board layout designs using Allegro or other layout toolsMap out test plans and draft test methods for evaluating designs.Bring up, characterize, and debug systems and circuits using lab tools such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, power supplies, etc.Evaluate performance of circuits and assess compliance to product and regulatory requirements.Optimize performance of electronics design using simulation tools and hand-on measurementsAssess and document design outcomes, test results, and related information and present information to design teams.Work with component and development partners to select, evaluate, and approve electronics designs.Develop, evaluate, and finalize Bill of Materials and other design documentation needed for product release.What you'll bringBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar engineering disciplineMinimum 5 years of portable, battery-powered embedded circuit design.Demonstrated ownership of sub-system electronics circuit design/integration in one or more of the following areas: Microcontroller and/or applications processor integration including memory subsystems, power delivery networks, RF subsystem integration, high speed communication buses, complex sensor systems, LEDs.Familiar with power supply design (Switch mode, linear regulator)Strong hands-on electronics bring-up, characterization, and debug experience using laboratory tools: Oscilloscope, power supplies, multimeters, etcStrong schematic design experience using Cadence/OrCAD tools.Experience collaborating and driving PCB and/or FPCB layout designsExperience using PCB CAD layout tools, such as Allegro Viewer, to inspect, analyze and propose optimizations of PCB designs during layout reviewsHas Developed products within cross-functional (EE/ME/FW) and geographically diverse engineering teamsHas experience collaborating with electronics component manufacturers and third party design supportFamiliar with documentation, analysis, and presentations tools, such as Word, Excel, PowerPointPreferred QualificationsExperience designing vehicle based electronicsExperience integrating wireless systems such as LTE, GNSS, Wifi, Bluetooth.Experience designing and debugging products to pass regulatory standards (FCC, CE, IEC).Benefits that Benefit YouCompetitive salary and 401k with employer matchDiscretionary paid time offPaid parental leave for allMedical, Dental, Vision plansFitness ProgramsEmotional & Mental Wellness supportLearning & Development programsAnd yes, we have snacks in our officesBenefits listed herein may vary depending on the nature of your employment and the location where you work.The Pay:Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 71,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 136,000 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
