Within CA&C, the Corporate Communications team handles communications for American Express' business strategy and financial performance, brand and reputation, digital innovation, social media communications and the company's external corporate content strategy.The Editor-in-Chief for American Express will play a pivotal role in crafting and telling our company's story. This role on the Corporate Communications team reports to the Vice President, Content and offers an exciting opportunity to drive innovation in how American Express communicates its key priorities and initiatives to its customers, colleagues, and communities.The person in this role will be responsible for writing and editing content for American Express' main corporate channels and for coordinating editorial activities for the American Express Newsroom, including editorial planning; creating, curating, and publishing content; channel redesign and refinement, and management and editorial calendar coordination. Theywill work closely with the entire owned-content team and with global colleagues in colleague and external communications to pursue and articulate the company's many stories.Specifically, we are looking for someone with excellent writing and editing skills as well as a passion for the American Express brand, a keen eye for identifying compelling story angles that highlight the unique attributes of our company and its culture, a collaborative attitude, and the ability to think creatively and drive results.Responsibilities:Create, curate, edit and assign content for American Express corporate channels, especially the Newsroom, that reflects a consistent tone and puts the brand and its core narratives at the center of storytelling.Oversee editorial planning and editorial calendar coordination for the Newsroom, working with a wide range of partners, including the internal Colleague Communications team, social media team, various business units and talent acquisition, among others.Partner with the VP, Content, American Express IT, internal/external CMS partners and others to redesign and refresh the Newsroom and its operating platform.Work in tandem with data specialists to measure impact by tracking engagement and refine content mix accordingly.Lead a small team of dedicated writers and content creatorsRemain up to date with emerging platforms, trends and best practices and regularly share your perspective.10+ years of writing and editorial experience.Branded content background, with strong knowledge of digital and social media and SEO best practices.Strong writing, editing and grammar skills.Ability to work in a highly matrixed environment, with excellent communication and collaboration skills, agility, and knack for forging strong relationships with a wide range of internal partners.Strong time management and project management skills; ability to work confidently under tight deadlines while paying close attention to detail.Willingness to dive into new opportunities and work with a "no task is too small" attitude.Writing samples required in addition to the successful completion of a writing test.Salary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefitsThe above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.
