The Dolores Doré Eccles Center for Early Care and Education has an opening for a Lead Teacher. The Center includes four classrooms/programs: Infants (6 weeks - 12 months), Toddler (12 through 24 months), Junior Preschool (2 through 3.5 year-olds), and Senior preschool (3.5 through 5 year-olds). The Lead Teacher (Teacher, Early Childhood II) position will be for the Infant classroom. The Center serves two primary purposes:
 To provide and maintain a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children in the context of establishing mutually supportive partnerships with families To afford a meaningful learning experience for university students earning academic credit in early childhood education and other related disciplines through on-site teaching and mentoring. The person selected for the position of an Early Childhood Education (ECE) Teacher will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an individualized developmentally-based and/or integrated thematic/project approach curriculum as appropriate. In addition, the ECE Teacher is directly responsible for supervising, mentoring, training, and/or working closely with other teaching staff, university practicum students, and program parents to ensure that continuity of quality care and education is maintained according to national accreditation standards. The general work schedule is Monday through Friday (full-time) with variable hours between 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM. More specifically, the ECE Teacher:
Facilitates an effective program to meet the physical, social, emotional, language, and cognitive needs of each child based upon sound child development principles. Secures the health, safety, welfare, and accountability of children through constant supervision, effective arrangement of space, proper maintenance of equipment, and regular practice of fire and other emergency procedures. Ensures that families receive adequate information about their child's experiences at the center through daily contacts, information letters, and regularly scheduled teacher/family conferences. Plans, organizes, and implements daily routines across indoor and outdoor spaces, curriculum plans, appropriate learning environments, space arrangement, child assessments, and parent interactions. Conducts ongoing needs assessment of each child and maintains written records and portfolios to monitor progress in all areas of development and for incorporating into curriculum planning. Maintains for the ordered arrangement, appearance, décor, and learning environment of all classroom areas and outdoor play areas. Assets in training and supervising practicum students in such a way that each is actively engaged in meeting the individual needs of each child in all developmental domains. Attends and actively contributes to staff planning, training, evaluations meetings, and professional events, serving as a resource person to staff members. Acknowledges and acts in accordance with the policies and procedures of the center and the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct. Operates a classroom/program in compliance with all state childcare center licensing standards and NAEYC accreditation criteria. Shares in the joint housekeeping responsibilities of the center and performs other duties, assigned by the Director, deemed necessary for the successful operation of the center program. Minimum Qualifications: 15 credits in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development or closely related field, and 1 year formal experience in Early Childhood Education; Child Development Associate (CDA) certification, and 1 year formal experience with young children; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Effective communication skills interacting with children, parents, college students and professional colleagues Familiarity with standards of Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP) Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies, Elementary Education or a related field Experience with toddlers and infants in early care and education settings Familiarity with NAEYC accreditation standards Along with the online application, please attach:
