We are seeking a passionate Dual Language Education Coach to join our team. In this role, you will collaborate with site teams to cultivate culturally inclusive classroom environments and implement anti-bias curriculum for children aged 0 to 5. Your primary responsibilities will include modeling best practices, providing consultation, and offering guidance to classroom staff on various aspects including classroom management, individualized learning, lesson planning, and curriculum implementation.
Responsibilities:
Practice Based Coaching (35%)
Employ Practice Based Coaching strategies to establish a systematic approach for observations, reflective coaching, and goal planning with teaching staff.
Utilize the Monthly Environment Checklist for monitoring classroom environments.
Provide mentoring, coaching, and guidance to Teachers, Early Head Start Teachers, and Teacher Assistants in collaboration with the Education Manager and Regional Team Resource Specialists.
Participate in monthly meetings with the Education Manager and Coaches team.
Dual Language Education Component Support (40%)
Assist teaching teams in creating developmentally appropriate and culturally inclusive learning environments, including setting up new classrooms.
Utilize the Planned Language Approach to provide coaching on dual language learning.
Equip classroom teams with materials and visuals to support the needs of dual language learners.
Ensure instruction is provided in children's home language whenever possible and that culturally inclusive materials are accessible.
Review lesson plans and daily classroom activities, ensuring implementation of social-emotional and anti-bias curriculum.
Conduct screenings of dual language children in the classroom and during home visits or conferences, emphasizing screenings in their home language.
Collaborate with Education Manager and Inclusion & Support Specialist to implement support plans for children.
Serve on the Education Committee and assist with research and recommendations as assigned.
Interpretation and Translation Support (15%)
Oversee the translation and interpretation needs of the program.
Coordinate with regional translators and external interpretation services.
Facilitate connections between newly-enrolled families and the Family Educator to ensure appropriate language support.
Training, Professional Development, and Presentations (10%)
Develop and deliver training to teaching staff on anti-bias activities, dual language learning, and creating culturally inclusive environments.
Stay updated on research-based instructional practices for language acquisition and provide training to support children's language and literacy in their home language and English language acquisition.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); Bachelor's degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education preferred.
Five years of experience working in preschool classrooms.
Experience working with adults in a helping or teaching capacity preferred.
Bilingual English/Spanish reading, writing, and speaking capabilities required.
Proficiency in computer use and related information technologies.
Effective communication skills with individuals and groups.
Additional Information:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as necessary.
Physical demands include lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds and manual dexterity for handling office equipment.
Enrollment in the Central Background Registry is required.
