Position Summary In accordance with the College and Career Readiness standard of the Blueprint for Maryland's Future legislation, Anne Arundel Community College is committed to providing opportunities for high school students to complete entry-level credit-bearing college courses and enroll in courses that lead to industry credentials.
Dual Enrollment: The purpose of this position is to utilize best practices to engage, communicate, recruit, advise, and enroll dual enrollment students, including those who are enrolling in Continuing Education and Workforce Development programs that lead to certification and those in the gifted and talented program. This position will develop and implement strategies to market and promote enrollment in collaboration with college departments and other groups or associations that serve and/or influence current high school students. The person will provide consistent ongoing communication, manage recruitment and registration, represent and promote the college at networking events and high schools, conduct ECAP and Gifted and Talented information sessions, and serve as a liaison between students, school counselors, college departments, faculty, and/or staff.
Admission Officers promote high school students earning postsecondary credits and industry credentials. They serve as an academic advisor, providing advising aligned with smart choices for dually enrolled students in their assigned caseload and high schools. The admission officer is also a connector, someone who understands the supports that promote positive engagement, entry, progression, and completion. They proactively provide support for struggling students. Responsibilities include the ability to help students align courses with a long-term plan and the coordination of advising across partners, including, but not limited to academic advising, faculty, the Office of Records and Registration, Cashiers, and Career and Community Services.
The Admissions Officer has the responsibilities of advancing post-secondary attainment and meeting enrollment goals via recruitment, preregistration, academic advising, and enrollment activities for the following populations in-person and in a virtual environment: students in the general population of assigned high schools; adult learners in assigned territories; and, historically excluded students in assigned high schools. The admissions officer is responsible for planning and implementing recruitment programs and special activities for serving as a liaison with assigned high schools, businesses, and organizations. In addition, the admissions officer will advise prospective students and their families regarding admission and enrollment standards, policies, procedures, and college programs. This position has direct responsibility for achieving enrollment targets by building relationships with prospective students, applicants, families, school counselors, business and industry, AACC internal constituencies, and for coordinating strategies to convert prospects and applicants to first-time freshmen. Job priorities: Goal setting, academic advising, implementation, time management, data analytics, and teamwork.

Job Duties and Responsibilities Assist the director of admissions with the development of recruitment plans, presentations, and programming. Respond to
request for information regarding college programs. Evaluate documentation submitted for admissions. Provide academic and enrollment advising, including a comprehensive view of the enrollment process, and continued enrollment assistance for dually enrolled students. Achieve identified recruitment targets by implementing strategies designed to recruit students in the general population in assigned high schools, minority students in assigned high schools, and adult learners in assigned territories. Data analysis and report writing: Provide statistical summaries, reports, and evaluations of recruitment activities, including, but not limited to, the strategies for meeting enrollment targets. Demonstrate a high proficiency in the use of technology, including CRM, ERP, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Effectively communicate through email, social media, phone, in-person, and in a virtual environment.
Strong communication skills, written, via social media, and orally. Assist in the development of publications, presentations, and the website.
Demonstrated experience with Improving college knowledge, conveying brand value, focusing on key marketing messages, paying particular attention to academic and professional outcomes, developing customized presentations or programming based on interests, demographic data, equity, diversity, and inclusion, and, including a clear call to action.
Develop partnerships with businesses and organizations that serve adult learners in your assigned territories. Develop partnerships with on-campus stakeholders, the Anne Arundel County community, and with organizations that serve multi-ethnic populations. Work as part of a team, in collaboration with Admissions and other campus-based colleagues.
Participate in admissions and special enrollment activities, including, but not limited to, open houses, college fairs, the Maryland College Application campaign, calling campaigns, Personal Registration Days, Drop-In Registration Sessions for the general and minority populations in assigned high schools, and for adult learners in assigned territories in a virtual environment. Coordinate and collaborate with Student Information Services as part of the AACC College Visit program.
Must have knowledge of current national, state and local trends in admissions and enrollment management. Participate in a plan of professional development to stay current regarding best practices for the profession, and to have an understanding of academic and career program offerings and requirements, career and transfer opportunities, enrollment demographic trends, employment outlook, and to develop cultural competency, in order to establish and implement recruitment and enrollment strategies, that reflect a "student ready" institution. Active participation in AACRAO, NACAC, HACU, or related state and regional organizations is a plus
Serve on division and college-wide work teams and committees as required.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Psychology, School Counseling, Public Administration or Business.
Minimum of two years of relevant experience
Experience and/or working knowledge of the functions and operations of a college Admissions Office, experience in secondary school counseling, workforce development, and/or school-based and community programs focused on improving college knowledge and enrollment in multi-ethnic communities in a virtual environment.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including composition, grammar, punctuation, spelling, editing, and proofreading skills. Strong multi-ethnic cultural competencies are required. Ability to interact effectively and tactfully with students of diverse backgrounds.
Experience with Colleague, Banner, PeopleSoft or other higher education ERP's is highly desirable. Understands the sources of institutional and market data, and how analysis is conducted to develop a recruitment and enrollment plan. Demonstrate strong general computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office
Ability to travel throughout the county and occasionally to sites in the local metropolitan area. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends to accommodate the enrollment needs of the college.
Demonstrated ability to conduct admissions and special enrollment activities for the general and minority populations in assigned high schools, and for adult learners in assigned territories in a virtual environment.
Preferred Qualifications: Can demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of the importance of emerging technologies as they apply to process improvements for increased enrollments. Can assist with the development and implementation of new admission technology projects.
