The Transport Driver is responsible for the inspection and maintenance of department vehicles, and the transportation of elderly and frail patrons. They will use department software to enter client ride information and input vehicle information as required by AR-DOT. A Transport Driver should be comfortable and competent driving large vehicles, have an affinity for the elderly population, and meet the physical and educational requirements outlined below.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES 1. Perform pre-trip inspections of the vans to ensure that they are safe and ready to be driven.

2. Perform daily and monthly inspections of vehicles.

3. Safely board & un-board clients, per Transportation Guidelines.

4. Enforce van rules to ensure a safe and pleasant ride for everyone. Report any undisciplined clients to the Office Administrator.

5. Keep vehicles fueled from the Public Works fuel pumps.

6. Report any accidents and complete required reports.

7. Provide backup to the Transportation Team if they are out of the office, by taking calls & scheduling rides.

8. Advise the Supervisor of any vehicles that need to be taken out of service for repair or maintenance.

9. Document any maintenance issues with 5310 grant vehicles in the ARDOT/FTA book.

10. Document any information about the vehicles provided to you by other drivers.

11. Scan all daily vehicle inspection sheets and save them on the computer system.

12. Keep Senior Services vehicles clean and sanitary at all times; this may include training and/or supervising volunteers who assist in cleaning vehicles.

13. Complete monthly reports, and turn them in to your Supervisor within 5 days of the month's end.

14. Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The education and experience listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities generally necessary to fulfill this requirement.

High school diploma, or general education degree (GED) and
1 - 6 months of related experience or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a valid driver license and a good driving record. HOURS: Tuesday and Thursday from 9am to 1 pm. Additional days may be assigned in advance.
