CTA is a small boarding school with an extensive outdoor program.  We are looking for a dorm mom for our small female dorm.  It has rooms for 4 girls and the dorm parent.
The Dormitory Mom,  plays a vital role in creating a supportive and nurturing environment for students at CTA. This position requires someone with a compassionate and caring nature, excellent communication skills, and a genuine interest in the well-being and development of young people. The Dorm Mom is responsible for the safety and overall care of students in the boarding facility, ensuring they feel at home and are supported academically, emotionally, and socially.
Responsibilities Supervision and Care: Provide oversight and guidance to students living in the dormitory, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times. The dorm mom also provides support, transportation, and supervision on weekends and a couple of weekdays/evenings in tandem with the staff on duty. Student Support: Establish a positive and caring relationship with students, offering support and advice as needed. Address any personal or academic concerns, referring students to appropriate resources when necessary. Rules and Discipline: Uphold school rules and school policies, ensuring students adhere to curfews, quiet hours, and other guidelines.  Health and Safety: Monitor students' health and coordinate with the school's duty staff for any concerns. Conduct regular safety checks and report any maintenance or safety issues. Activities and Community Building: cooperate and supervise activities, fostering a sense of community and teamwork among students. Encourage student participation in school events and extracurricular activities. Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and school staff.  Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; a college degree in education, psychology, social work, or a related field is preferred. Passion: Enjoy working with young people, preferably in a boarding school or residential setting.   Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to manage conflict and resolve issues. Team player. Mature and willing to lead. Personal Qualities: Compassionate, patient, and empathetic. Ability to build trust and build rapport with students. A role model of integrity and responsibility. Work Hours: The position requires evenings per week, all weekends, and on-call duties.  The typical schedule includes on-call 2 days out of 4, M-Th, during the day and active 2 evenings, on-call Friday during school hours, on duty Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday.  The position coordinates the schedule with the other dorm parents and staff on evening and weekend duty.  Example schedule: Monday and Tuesday off. Wednesday and Thursday 8:30 - 5:30 on call for occasional transportation of students (many days there are no requests) Wednesday and Thursday evenings 5:30 - 9  - provide supervision and partner with the teacher on duty. Friday 8:30 - 5:30  - on call  Friday evening 3- 11pm  partner with the other dorm parent, night security and staff to provide supervision and activities for students Saturday 10am - 11pm partner with the other dorm parent, night security and 2 weekend staff to provide supervision and activities for students. Sunday - 10 - 9 Partner with the other dorm parent, night security, and staff to provide supervision and activities for students Job Calendar -  reports Aug 19th and ends June 1st.  Breaks - Last week of Aug/1st week of Sept, 1st week of Oct, Week of Thanksgiving, 3 weeks for Christmas break, 2 weeks for spring break, 1 week in April. Housing: On-campus housing is provided as part of the compensation package for the school year, living in the dorm with the girls. Background Check: Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a background check. Other:  opportunities exist to participate in our outdoor activities and trips.
