Job Description
LaSalle Network has a great opportunity for a Divisional Controller located in Nashville, TN!  100% on-site, relocation is provided! The Divisional Controller, Wholesale will be responsible for all aspects of the accounting function for the company's wholesale fuel business as well as all fuel activities in the company's retail convenience store business. This position will oversee and manage the company's fuel accounting, billing and accounts receivable teams and be responsible for internal control oversight, operational accounting, billing and collections, month-end close management, financial reporting to internal stakeholders and technical accounting support and guidance. This position requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail and a thorough understanding of fuel accounting principles and systems. This position will work closely with a team of professionals to maintain high-quality accounting practices and contribute to the overall success of Customer wholesale fuel distribution business and retail fuel activities.Divisional Controller Responsibilities: Oversee a timely and accurate month-end close process for the company's wholesale fuel business and retail fuel activities and prepare monthly operational results in accordance with U.S. GAAPPrepare and present monthly financial and operational analysis for the wholesale business and retail fuel activities to provide actional insights to management for decision-making purposesOversee the timely and accurate filing of all motor fuel excise tax returns across each state (approximately 20) and respective local jurisdictions the company operates in and ensure the company maintains compliance with the requirements of each state and local jurisdictionProvide oversight of the company's fuel accounting systems and ensure they are designed functioning properly to meet the company's business objectivesResponsible for the design, implementation and operating effectiveness of proper policies, procedures and internal controls for the wholesale fuel business and retail fuel activitiesConduct financial reviews and analysis monthly to support the company's growth, profitability and operational performance and identify, document and resolve accounting and operational issues as they ariseAssist the Corporate Controller and FP&A department with formulating budgets, forecasts and monthly variance analysis related to the wholesale fuel business and retail fuel activitiesInterface with external auditors and regulatory professionals to support interim and year-end financial statement audits and tax auditsDrive all pre-acquisition and post-acquisition integration efforts in connection with any wholesale fuel businesses the company acquires and the fuel activities of any retail fuel businesses the company acquiresResponsible for the overall performance of the company's fuel billing and accounts receivable operations. These departments are responsible for the accurate and timely invoicing for all wholesale customer transactions and fuel supplier transactions as well as the accurate and timely drafting of customer payments and customer collection activitiesEnsure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards and applicable laws and regulations and implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard the company's assetsCollaborate with internal teams including sales, operations, customer service, legal and IT to optimize the wholesale business and fuel accounting activitiesParticipate in cross-functional projects and initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency and customer satisfactionContinuously improve accounting processes for the wholesale business and retail fuel activities and identify opportunities for automation, streamlining and efficiency enhancementsMaintains the confidentiality of all company, client, employee and vendor informationManage a team of 15-20 professionals, including 4-5 direct reports in the company's fuel accounting, billing and accounts receivable departmentsCarry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies, procedures and applicable employment and labor lawsInterviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing and resolving complaints and/or issuesDivisional Controller Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; Masters degreeCertified Public Accountant (CPA) designation10+ years of progressive accounting experience5+ years of job-specific experience in a supervisory capacity at the accounting manager level or higherStrong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and fuel accounting principles and best practices.=Proficiency in using accounting software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systemsExcellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and financial informationStrong attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulationsExcellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage a team and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholdersAbility to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, adapt to changing prioritie, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environmentExperience with Business Process Management any equivalent combination of education and experience in job-related activitiesExperience in fuel/gas station required
