Find your place in finance on #TeamAmex. How will you make an impact in this role?This role will report to the Vice President of Servicing for North America and is fully accountable for the execution of the US & Canada Payroll function end to end.The role demands a deep level of subject matter expertise in US and Canadian payroll practices including hourly paid colleagues, timekeeping, payroll related taxes & relevant legislation. A key part of the role will also be to develop a long-term strategy for the payroll organization along with an effective service delivery model alongside our external payroll provider.The main responsibilities of the role include the following:Responsibilities:Direct and oversee the day-to-day Payroll function ensuring accurate colleague payDirect and oversee tax preparation, review and filingsOversee, manage and report on Payroll spendDevelop and maintain policies, processes, and training with appropriate documentationManage vendor partner to terms of contract and service level agreementsOversee implementation of new process and/or systemsExtreme focus on operational excellence and mitigating riskEnsure compliance with federal, state and local regulationsShare knowledge, expertise and guidance when complex problems or challenges arise through resolutionConduct rigorous analysis on emerging trends to inform the strategic directionDevelop standard reporting for payroll operations, business units and senior leadersPartner with key stakeholders, i.e., Colleague Serving, G&L team, Treasury, Controllership, General  Counsel, Employment and Corporate TaxAlign goals with the organization's overall strategy and set clear expectations and performance goals for each team memberDevelop and sustain a high performing team; defining what winning looks likeLead and coach a teamMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree or relevant experience in Payroll, Accounting or TaxCertified Payroll Professional10+ years managing & overseeing a payroll function supporting an organization of 20,000+International Payroll experienceProven successful leadership- dynamic leader who can lead a large group as well as develop future leadersPreferred QualificationsCritical thinkingHCM knowledge and experienceExtensive knowledge and accountability for Compliance with all applicable regulations.Understanding of qualified retirement plansAbility to work under time pressure and adapt to changeExceptional verbal, written communication and presentation skillsStrong Tax and Accounting knowledge/backgroundWorking knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metricsConsiderations for sponsorship:Depending on factors such as business unit requirements, the nature of the position, cost and applicable laws,American Express may provide visa sponsorship for certain positionsSalary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefitsThe above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.
