Job Summary - This is a remote position located in the Central Territory (IL, IN, OH) with travel required.
The Director of Sales directs and oversees the organization's sales policies, objectives, and initiatives. You will direct sales activities and develop tactics, operational plans, and processes to implement the district-level sales strategy, drive revenue growth, and achieve financial objectives.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 7+ years of related experience
- Demonstrated success in direct sales and sales management (VAR experience preferred)
- Strong business, sales, and financial acumen
- Experience dealing with senior-level executives (VP level or higher)
- Deep knowledge of the technology marketplace, OEM solutions, and VAR channel programs
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong track record of sales and sales management
- Adept at forecasting and driving quarterly/annual results
- Strong recruiting skills and broad relationships in the assigned market
- Background in KPI management
- Ability to build a territory and grow existing accounts (cross-sell & upsell)
- Understand complex business problems and identify key issues for selling technology solutions
- Proven self-starter who can work both as a team member and independently
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, both verbal and written
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Establish and implement initiatives, processes, tools, and structure to support the sales organization's operations
- Oversee goal setting for departmental and group levels of the sales organization, and use data and technology to measure and monitor sales processes, identify issues, and enhance performance
- Implement methods and systems to effectively analyze and monitor the industry, business environment, clients, and competitors to expand the business
- Use market and customer insights to collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and suggest new solutions or products
- Build effective sales and support teams with recruiting, mentoring, and development programs
- Participate in and negotiate strategic high-value sales
- Manage departmental budget and create strategies and objectives to meet the organization's strategic sales goals
- Build effective sales teams with effective recruiting, mentoring, development, and performance management programs
- Acquire new customers, retain and grow targeted accounts with mid to senior executive contacts, relationship building, prospecting, networking strategies, and consultative selling skills
- Expand current business to increase sales via a full range of products and services
- Co-create and support local and national marketing initiatives
- Assess client business issues and performance gaps, recommend appropriate training and development solutions
- Achieve individual and team goals for growth by collaborating with team members
- Achieve all quota and activity levels
- Demonstrate competency in selling, in-depth understanding of the market, buying processes, account development, sales relationships, consultative selling, analysis of performance issues, networking, and prospecting skills
- Strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with various concepts, practices, and procedures
