NOTE:
This is a hybrid-remote position with a typical work schedule of 2 days-per-week on-campus and 3 days-per-week remote.
SUMMARY:
The Financial Aid Director is in charge of developing excellent working partnerships with other campus departments and College administration in addition to fostering positive, encouraging relationships with Financial Aid team members, lending institutions, guarantee agencies, and regulatory authorities. Because of the work's above-average speed, a confident leadership style that promotes collaborative effort focused on results is needed. Must inspire, engage, and lead an efficient team. Along with being able to collaborate with other campus departments including Admissions, Registrar, and Student Affairs in a customer-focused manner, the Financial Aid Director must also be able to respond and adapt swiftly to changing circumstances. The Financial Aid Director also participates actively in the leadership teams for both the College's overall financial aid program and the campus management team. The student experience, leadership development, timely and accurate packing of all students, and rigorous adherence to all federal and state standards serve as benchmarks for success in this position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Regularly utilizes all available resources to monitor department's performance and services provided to students and prospective students.
Performs ongoing quality-assurance testing of associate appointments, file processing, and communication with students, and meets with individual staff members to review and discuss results.
Collaborates regularly with peers and supervisors regarding campus processes, policies, or upcoming events, and with colleagues in other departments and external agencies to resolve escalated or complex student issues regarding student accounts or financial aid concerns. Makes recommendations to VP, Financial Aid for new or revised policies or procedures related to the administration of student financial aid.
Monitors Professional Judgment overrides or exceptions to institutional policies, serving as the campus' final authority over decisions and appropriately communicates decisions to staff and students.
Collaborates with colleagues in other departments and external agencies to resolve escalated student issues or concerns regarding student accounts or financial aid issues.
Proactively collaborates with leaders in other functional groups on campus and with College Administration to implement new programs, program modifications or other operational changes.
Monitors enrollment and retention activities and goals and evaluates key indicators to forecast upcoming work volume and necessary resources, establishes plans to meet those needs, and communicates same to Campus President and VP, Financial Aid to obtain necessary approvals and successful execution of plans.
Monitors departmental activity queue and ensures work is being delegated appropriately. Evaluates activities returned by Administration teams to identify appropriate resolution, training needs, or escalate appropriately if not in agreement.
Monitors and manages campus allocation of Federal Work Study, Federal SEOG and institutional aid allocations.
Manages the shared financial aid appointment calendar to ensure that adequate time is allocated for new and continuing students each day.
Meets regularly with associates as a team to share information, discuss plans, and address concerns.
Prepares and provides training for all Financial Aid associates.
Prepares and delivers associate performance reviews and initiates formal counseling as appropriate.
Provides daily supervision of all Financial Aid Associates and provides developmental training opportunities as appropriate.
Actively serves as a campus management team member and the College financial aid leadership team.
Maintains current knowledge of regulations, policies, and processes regarding the administration of federal, state, and institutional student financial aid.
Adheres to College's policies and procedures and conducts job responsibilities in accordance with the standards set out in the College's policies and procedures, applicable federal and state laws, and applicable professional standards.
Performs other duties as assigned
EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
5 years of experience as Director of Financial Aid
7 years of experience in financial aid
10 years of experience a customer service oriented field
Requires expert knowledge of theories, concepts, principles, and practices in the administration of Title IV financial aid in addition to similar level of expertise leading teams.
QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS:
Must not be in default on a federal student loan or owe repayment of a federal grant.
Must consent to audio and video recording of student financial aid appointments and overviews for training and quality assurance purposes required.
Demonstrates highest level of integrity, professional ethics, and confidentiality in all interactions.
Excellent customer service skills with focus on student success.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Higher than average computer skills.
Demonstrated ability to train, lead and hold teams accountable to achieve operational outcomes.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written.
Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment where deadlines are essential.
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Extensive knowledge of financial aid regulations and procedures.
Ability to use good judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $115,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
