Employment Type: Full-time, in-person, 12-month network-based leadership role for the upcoming school year. This is a one-year position for the ******** school year only. 
Salary: The salary range for this position is $81,840-$94,160. Placement within that range is based on years of comparable school leadership experience.

For the ******** school year, we are seeking an exceptional Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to lead the development and implementation of our DEI strategy as experienced by our students.
Key Responsibilities: The Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion's (DDEI) central responsibility is to:
Ignite the diverse voices of our students to be leaders in our continuous evolution and identify opportunities for innovation.
Integrate quality DEI work into the scholar experience through strategic planning.
Interrogate and evolve our scholar-facing systems to ensure Valor becomes more and more equitable and inclusive for all students.
Student Leadership & Education
Create, promote, and lead the execution of curriculum development through our Hate Has No Home Here series. This series aims to teach and learn to think critically about cultural diversity. This includes studying race, gender, ethnicity, nation and nationhood, class, religion, and their intersections.
Develop lessons, lead training, own logistics, and support the development of middle and high school student affinity circles; support content needs of identity-based clubs and collaborate with 12th-grade student affinity circle leaders to support student identity development and leadership.
Use formal (Student Valor Voice) and informal data (Conversations with Students) to understand the student experience and identify opportunities for innovation through elevating student voice.
Coordinate off-campus equity education programs for students and facilitate their attendance at local, regional, and national conferences related to equity education.
Staff Leadership and Collaboration
Manage DEI Chairs and support quarterly opportunities for students to engage in learning, conversation, and celebration.
Collaborate with CDEIO to revise the strategic plan for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
Collaborate with the Managing Director of Culture, Family Engagement Manager, and Culture Assistant Principals to identify opportunities for inclusion connections. 
Collaborate with the Postsecondary Success Team to draft opportunities for diversity connections for the high school students (college, vocational schools, military, etc.).
Gather data from staff and students regarding the scholar affinity experience; revise training and structure in response to the data gathered.
Maintain a weekly presence on each campus to create opportunities for authentic student interaction.
Collaborate with Thrive in a Diverse World Team to increase scholar attendance at family events and to review scholar-facing materials. 
Qualifications and Characteristics: You hold a Bachelor's degree, with an advanced degree strongly preferred.
You have at least 3 years of either lead teaching experience as a teacher of record or experience in formal DEI work 
Proven track record of high achievement in the classroom and/or previous leadership position
You have background knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion
Experience planning and leading professional development (continuous or individual cycles) to small and large groups of teachers and staff
Acts ethically, with integrity, and is authentic and self-aware; adheres to Valor's values, mission, and DEI principles
Demonstrated strength in building trusting relationships with adults and children
Ability to facilitate and engage in difficult conversations and coach others to do the same
Supports daily functions of the organizations through arrival, dismissal, or mid-day duties 
Experience working with a diverse population of adults and children
Google Suite proficiency (Google Calendar, Google Slides, Google Sheets)
Demonstrated experience proactively supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion in an educational setting
Ability to work in a collegial, diverse, collaborative environment
Organizational skills and attention to detail
Experience with strategic thinking and leadership, including expertise in gathering and assessing a broad range of data
