Job Description: POSITION SUMMARY : The Director of Advancement is responsible for producing financial gifts from alumni, foundations, corporations and individuals in order to support the mission and vision of Pacific Oaks College & Children's School. The Director of Advancement promotes donor development and provides fundraising services, knowledge, and counsel to donors, prospective donors, and the leadership of the Institution. The Director collaborates with colleagues (admissions, student services, academic affairs, etc.) and the Pacific Oaks Children's School to create and maintain pathways for alumni participation that advance the goals of the Institution.
This position is based in Pasadena and reports directly to the President.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*: Collaborate with the President and various Pacific Oaks constituents to lead the effort to engage current supporters, cultivate new supporters, increase financial investment and build an increasingly strong and diverse network of stakeholders. Build fundraising plans and execute them to increase revenues to support the strategic direction of the organization, which includes Annual Fund campaign, major gift solicitations, sponsorship and underwriting programs, alumni engagement, and special events. Create and manage a portfolio of prospects and major donors through individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans who funds are sought for various scholarships, projects, and other program support. Develop relationships and fundraising strategies to engage boards and develop an understanding of Advancement goals which keep the institution's name and achievements alive in the minds of individuals, corporate and foundation executives, and board members. Develop and track major gifts solicitations, proposals, and reports for all individual, foundation, and fundraising. Provides an annual comprehensive analysis of department and fundraising programs. Provides analysis and evaluation for individual programs on an "as needed" basis. Monitor Advancement trends in the community or region and adapt fundraising strategies as necessary. Oversee the logistics (including communication with speakers, vendors, creates timelines), to promote, and facilitate special events, including alumni receptions and other key institutional events, including working with the Parent Association at the Children's School for fundraising initiatives. Establish and build relationships with a wide range of alumni, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally; maintain regular communication with alumni and supporters via direct contact, email blasts, alumni newsletter, print publications, and social media platforms. Supports the Pacific Oaks Alumni Association, which will have a focus on fundraising initiatives with PO Alumni Association members In collaboration with Finance, create and manage department budget; forecast annual fundraising income and establish goals tied to donor growth objectives. Oversee the administration of the donor database to ensure the privacy and confidentiality of donor information, gift processing, and coordinate donor acknowledgment letters with The Community Solution Education System and Advancement at Pacific Oaks. Ability to work with a diverse stakeholders and a community The ability to initiate and develop protocols and processes for the department. Ability to problem solve using sound judgement and decision-making abilities. Ability to act independently and make recommendations to the President. Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS : Education (Required): Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required. Education (Preferred): Master's degree preferred. Experience (Required): Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in managing large-scale projects in the education or non-profit sector. Minimum of 5 years of special event oversight experience required. Experience (Preferred): Minimum of 4 years of experience in an Advancement department at an Institute of Higher Education (IHE) and external affairs TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS (Describe environment including exposure to heat, cold, fumes, etc.)
