Job Summary : The Equipment Director will oversee the management, maintenance, and strategic deployment of all equipment and production facilities within the company. This role is critical to ensuring that our equipment fleet and plant are optimized for efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. The Director of Maintenance and Equipment will work closely with leadership partners to ensure equipment availability and performance meets Company needs.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Team Leadership : Lead, mentor, and develop a team of equipment superintendents, technicians, mechanics and electricians. Foster a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and accountability within the division. Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing training and development. Foster a culture of teamwork, cooperation and engagement. Develop and foster strong positive working relationship with CCI Equipment Purchasing Division. Equipment Management : Develop and implement a comprehensive equipment management strategy. Oversee the deployment of construction equipment and plants. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies. Oversee liquidation and sales of retired equipment. Maintenance and Repair : Establish and oversee preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime. Coordinate repair activities to ensure timely and cost-effective resolutions. Implement tracking systems for maintenance schedules and repair history. Budgeting and Cost Control : Develop and manage the equipment budget, including capital expenditures and operating costs. Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising equipment quality and performance. Analyze equipment utilization and recommend strategies to improve efficiency. Vendor and Supplier Management : Establish and maintain healthy and ethical partnerships with equipment vendors and suppliers. Negotiate contracts and terms to secure favorable pricing and service agreements. Monitor vendor performance to ensure adherence to contractual obligations. Fleet Optimization : Analyze equipment usage data to optimize fleet size and composition. Implement technologies and systems to improve equipment tracking and management. Recommend equipment upgrades and replacements based on lifecycle analysis. Safety and Compliance : Ensure all equipment complies with local, state, and federal regulations. Promote a culture of safety and ensure all team members are trained in safe operating procedures. Investigate and report on equipment-related incidents and implement corrective actions. Skills and Attributes Strong Financial Acumen: Able to make sound decisions using company and divisional P&Ls. Proven leadership experience with a track record of managing large fleets and complex projects. Strong knowledge of construction equipment, maintenance practices, and industry standards. Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Proficient in equipment management software and other relevant technologies. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Experience 10 years' experience in equipment management, preferably within the construction industry. Understanding of DOT regulations. AEMP Certification – not required but nice to have. Understanding of HCSS Suite of Services is a plus. Familiarity with and experience working with collective bargaining agreements is a plus. 6/2/2024
