REPORTS TO: Digital Print Supervisor or Lead
Position Summary The Digital Print operator is responsible for ensuring best practices within the digital print department. Operators will support each other in operator training, team building, and the quality and efficiency of printed materials for Bolger Direct digital print facility. The Digital Print Operator will monitor workflow in all areas that affect the requirements of each customer's printed program.
Digital Print Operators will provide support to the digital workflow at the Print on Demand Center at Bolger Direct. Digital Print operators will work directly with other Digital Print operators on troubleshooting files, problem-solving, color management, imposition and any other duties necessary in the production process. This position will require different print substrates to be analyzed and color managed according to the needs of the customer. The Digital Print Operator must also be able to establish and maintain a strong relationship with Sale representatives, Production Project Managers, Account Managers and Production Staff. The Digital Print Operator must be able to work effectively within a team environment and all levels of the company.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Set-up, operate and maintain digital print devices in collaboration with department staff and digital print vendors. Identify and help resolve/problem solve issues on the production floor as they pertain to and/or may impact Bolger Direct or its customers from a Digital print quality and efficiency standpoint. Follow up with necessary personnel to assure appropriate action was taken and the issue resolved. Read and understand job tickets. Being able to run the job in the most efficient way to save both the Customer and the Company time and money. Taking into consideration the other operations required to complete the job after it leaves the Digital Print Center; i.e. bindery, mailing, assembly and OSV requirements. Share information with team members insuring proper cross training and team building efforts are taking place to maximize operator skill sets and operator efficiency. Properly be trained and utilize MIS system for job cost time effectiveness and communication of job issues. Place service calls when needed and document in communication and service logs. Effectively communicate with technicians to ensure proper repair is completed. Must understand variable data files as they pertain to B/W and color applications on different Digital printing equipment. Properly and accurately communicate to operators and internal account managers, managers, supervisors and leads on any print quality issues, or concerns and have them resolved to meet the client expectations on quality and on time delivery. Assure all department QC checks are being completed per Bolger ISO 9001 processes. Support ISO 9001 continuous improvement culture. Support Bolger Direct customers through dependability, positive attitude, accuracy/quality, efficiency and on time delivery. Keep work areas neat, clean and organized, for customers and visitor and in support of a safe work environment for team members. Return all paper stock to correct locations when job is completed, Builds relationship to facilitate changes to insure Bolger Direct print is compliant to meet the lowest possible price point without jeopardizing quality and on time delivery. Work with all Bolger Direct departments to facilitate efficient handling to insure timely and accurate completion of requirements necessary to meet our customer requirements. Participate in team meetings to assure communication and engagement with department team members. Must be able to handle multiple projects/tasks at any given time and be able to prioritize as needed. Attend events to maintain/enhance knowledge and understanding of Digital technology and equipment. Assist in implementing and identifying opportunities to increase Bolger Value Add Revenue Required Skills and Attributes Strong relationship building skills Knowledge and experience operating Digital printing equipment (inline booklet making equipment knowledge is a plus) Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high sense of urgency and time constraints Ability to defuse volatile situations resulting in a win-win situation Must be a team player, believing there is always a better way Experienced in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Xerox Free-Flow) Good verbal and written communication skills Analytical and problem-solving skills Organized and detail oriented III. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum High school education is required. Knowledge in support of Digital Print B/W and Color capabilities and equipment a must. Ability to handle multiple task functions in a fast pace, high demand environment. Must be self-motivated and able to take direction from numerous sources. Must be able to trouble shoot and resolve problems independently or through others. Must possess good verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to work autonomously, with little direction, and possess good organizational and scheduling skills. Must possess strong organizational skills to meet deadlines and coordinate multiple simultaneous activities with little supervisory direction. Must test in the normal range for color blindness. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS The job is subject to interruptions and is involved with fellow employees, Sales, vendors and customers under all conditions or circumstances, including those who are occasionally upset or hostile. Work includes walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting during working hours, and at times continuous reprioritization of schedule to meet customer satisfaction.
