To us, Verification is not just the last step on the path to commercialization; this role becomes an integral core team member in the Concept phase of the project. You will be responsible for partnering with Systems Engineering, Marketing, the design teams, Quality and Project Management to drive meaningful product requirements, a robust design, and ultimately an efficient and effective verification strategy. Along the path to launch, you will become a technical contributor towards the success of the product and help establish best-practices and innovative approaches towards proving that our products meet the expectations of the Medtronic Mission.The responsibilities of this role will include the following:Represent the development engineering function on product development extended core teamsPartner with System Engineering to develop, review and decompose product requirementsDevelop and drive a robust and efficient design verification strategy for product requirementsChampion studies and/or activities that drive robust design, such as design of experiments, transfer function development, and simulationsMentor junior verification engineers working on your projects, and provide feedback on engineering reports, verification protocols, and verification reportsLiaison with Reliability, Compliance (60601), Hardware (Electrical and Mechanical), and Software teams for your projectsLead and/or support cross-functional failure investigationsAuthor or review/approve design verification protocols and reportsSupport the development of regulatory submissions for your projectsSupport QMS and/or DHF audits as the development engineer SME on those projectsSupport changes made to your projects post-launchYou are responsible for driving product development activities in support of surgical robotics platform, including:Review and provide input to the development of product requirementsReview, provide input to and approve test methodsDesign studies and experiments to gain confidence in meeting product requirementsAnalyze test dataAuthor Engineering Analyses and ReportsPlan verification activitiesAuthor Design Verification Protocols and ReportsTroubleshoot failures and make recommendations on design, test, or requirement improvementsMentor junior engineers on all of the aboveChampion continuous improvement projects, such as implementing new SOPs or WIs related to development engineeringResponsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, evaluates alternatives including cost and risk, supportability and analyses for total systems.Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.Must Have: Minimum RequirementsBachelor's Degree with 2+ years of engineering experienceORAn advanced degree with 0+ years of engineering experienceNice to Have2+ years of medical device developmentAdvanced degree in robotic engineering or another technical disciplineExperience with applying or developing a product according to System Engineering principlesA strong understanding of Regulatory requirements for Design Controls and Design VerificationIndustry-experience with statistical analysis of dataExperience with robotics or electro-mechanical systemsProven track record of contributing to medical devices of high complexityStrong communication and inter-personal skillsAbout MedtronicTogether, we can change healthcare worldwide.
