Design Engineer – Equipment Automation  Remote position 
Compensation $80-120k (flexibility for an increase in compensation) Job Overview:  We are looking for an innovative Design Engineer to work on a new design of method printing on web material and with this optimize the equipment for high speed and high reliability. The company is Aqua Membranes a company with revolutionary technology that designs and manufactures spiral wound membrane elements.  The technology leads to a more efficient water purification process, offering sustainable and cost-effective solutions for clients.
Some of the skills required for this role are: a proven track record in designing solutions, expertise in automation and system integration, knowledge in the AGILE process, and web handling/roll-to-roll processing. 
Responsibilities:  Design and Conceptualization:  1. Lead the conceptualization of innovative and efficient printer equipment design concepts tailored for water filtration applications, with an emphasis on automation. 
2. Utilize CAD software, with a specific focus on adapting designs for technology. 
Expertise in Automation:  1. Apply expertise in automation to optimize the integration of automated processes within equipment design. 
2. Implement solutions for efficient and precise automated functions. 
AGILE Project Management: 1. Apply AGILE methodologies to manage projects efficiently, ensuring flexibility, collaboration, and responsiveness to changing requirements. 
2. Facilitate sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to enhance project delivery.  Feasibility Analysis: 1. Conduct thorough feasibility studies to assess the technical and economic viability of proposed designs, emphasizing automated processes. 
2. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and address specific challenges related to water filtration, printing, and automation. 
Prototyping and Testing: 1. Build and test prototypes to validate the functionality and efficiency of the design. 
2. Analyze test results, troubleshoot issues, and iteratively improve designs. 
Materials and Components Selection: 1. Specify appropriate materials and components for the equipment design, considering compatibility with water filtration requirements and automation components. 
2. Ensure designs comply with industry standards and regulations related to water filtration, printing, and automation. 
Collaboration: 1. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, water filtration specialists, and automation experts. 
2. Effectively communicate with stakeholders to gather requirements and provide updates on project progress. 
Continuous Improvement: 1. Participate in design reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of equipment design, with a focus on automation. 
2. Stay informed about advancements in automation technology and its applications. 
Documentation: 1. Prepare detailed documentation, including design specifications, engineering drawings, and technical reports. 
2. Maintain accurate records of design iterations, changes, and adaptations for water filtration, printing, and automation. 
Regulatory Compliance: 1. Ensure that equipment designs meet relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and certifications related to water filtration, printing, and automation. 
2. Stay abreast of regulatory changes impacting all relevant technologies. 
Qualifications: 1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. 
2. Proven experience as an Equipment Design Engineer, with expertise in building advanced equipment, automation, and proficiency in AGILE methodologies. 
3. Proficiency in CAD software for printing applications (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD). 
4. Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes. 
5. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. 
6. Effective communication and collaboration skills. 
7. Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory requirements. 
8. Talent to innovate and think "Out-of-the-box"
