Responsibilities
• Develop detailed design plans for transportation projects• Conduct feasibility studies and recommend changes to project designs• Create detailed drawings using CADD software• Calculate and summarize plan quantities• Assist with special projects• Perform other related duties as assigned• Serve as a resource for proposal development and research process• Coordinate programs and plans for the division/department• Assist in the development of programs, research development, and technology plans• Organize, conduct, and review engineering investigations and field observations• Assist in analyzing engineering data and developing technical guidelines• Assist in laboratory testing• Participate in Quality Control / Quality Assurance programs
Requirements
• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from an ABET accredited school• Registered Professional Engineer license in Indiana required• 4 years of experience in engineering or transportation research• Valid Indiana Driver's License• Extensive knowledge of civil engineering theories and principles• Broad knowledge of planning, design, and construction of transportation projects• Extensive knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations• Considerable knowledge of computer-aided design and drafting• Ability to perform complex design plans and reports• Extensive knowledge of AASHTO Design Specifications and ASTM Standards• Working knowledge of Indiana Design Manual, Indiana Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices, and INDOT standard specifications• Knowledge of department systems such as SPMS, dTIMS, ArcGIS, and WMS
