Job DescriptionThe Virginia Tech National Security Institute (VT NSI) is seeking a Deputy Director of Virginia Tech's Defense Civilian Training Corps. The Deputy Director will have two primary roles, 1) Support planning and execution of Defense Civilian Training Corps activities, and 2) Provide leadership and develop research programs in cybersecurity and wargaming in support of the Defense Civilian Training Corps and the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets. In the later capacity, the Deputy Director will also be the Deputy Director of the Rice Center for Leader Development.The Defense Civilian Training Corps is a congressionally-mandated talent development program that provides a multidisciplinary, active-learning curriculum with summer internship projects at DoD organizations. DCTC is a highly selective pilot program that provides a 100% tuition scholarship and prepares scholars for a direct pathway into DoD acquisition-related careers. The Deputy Director will support the DCTC Director in set up of the DCTC program at Virginia Tech and work jointly with the DCTC Coalition to develop cross-University programs aimed at increasing the DoD civilian talent and workforce capacity to meet DOD needs. The Deputy Director will work with DCTC central governance teams and other DCTC universities to develop programs that include experiential learning, internships, scholarships, curriculum development, and applied research. The Deputy Director position is a full-time faculty position funded by a DOD workforce development program. The remainder of the Deputy Director's time will be dedicated to building and enhancing cybersecurity and wargaming programs within the Corps of Cadets in conjunction with the VT NSI.Together, the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets and the VT NSI support development of the next generation of national security leaders. The mission of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets is to graduate leaders of exemplary character who are instilled with the values and skills essential for leadership success in service to the nation. The mission of the VT NSI is to meet the pressing needs of the defense and intelligence communities by developing their future workforce and advancing interdisciplinary research, technology, and policy.
