Delta Dental of Missouri is seeking a Deputy Chief Information Officer in St. Louis, Missouri. As the Deputy Chief Information Officer (DCIO), you will play a critical role in driving digital transformation initiatives and advancing our technology infrastructure to support organizational goals. You will assist the CIDO in shaping the technology vision, strategy, and execution with a focus on leveraging AI, automation, cloud computing, Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, Full Stack engineering principles, architecture, infrastructure, and service management. Your leadership will be instrumental in driving innovation, optimizing processes, and delivering value to our stakeholders. Your role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities related to the management, strategy, and governance of the organization's information technology (IT) infrastructure and systems. Experience in the insurance industry is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities 1. Digital Transformation Leadership:
• Collaborate with the CIDO to develop and implement a digital transformation roadmap aligned with business objectives.
• Lead cross-functional teams in identifying technology-driven opportunities for process optimization and enhanced customer experience.
• Drive cultural change and adoption of digital technologies across the organization.
• Work closely with the CIDO to develop and refine digital strategies, particularly in sales automation, leveraging Salesforce, Force.com, or equivalent technologies.
• Identify and capitalize on opportunities to enhance sales processes, improve customer experience, and drive revenue growth through digital solutions.
2. AI and Automation Strategy:
• Develop and execute strategies to integrate AI and automation technologies into our operations, products, and services.
• Identify use cases for AI and automation to improve decision-making, streamline workflows, and enhance productivity.
• Partner with stakeholders to define requirements, assess feasibility, and implement large and complex AI, automation, and solutions.
3. Cloud Computing Management:
• Oversee the adoption and management of cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) to drive scalability, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness.
• Develop and execute cloud migration strategies, ensuring compliance with security and regulatory requirements.
4. Agile and DevOps Leadership:
• Promote Agile methodologies and DevOps practices to accelerate software delivery and improve collaboration between teams.
• Establish Agile frameworks and ceremonies, such as Scrum and Kanban, to optimize project management and delivery processes.
• Implement DevOps tools and practices for continuous integration, delivery, and monitoring.
5. Full Stack Engineering Oversight:
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to teams of full-stack engineers.
• Define best practices and standards for software development, architecture, and design.
• Ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software solutions.
6. Architecture Leadership:
• Establish architectural principles, standards, and guidelines to guide IT solution design and development.
• Evaluate and recommend new and emerging technologies, platforms, and tools to enhance technical architecture and efficiency and create/maintain a competitive edge.
• Develop and maintain technology architecture standards, principles, and guidelines.
• Collaborate with teams to design and implement scalable, secure, and resilient technology solutions.
7. Infrastructure and Service Management:
• Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of a robust, secure technology infrastructure in collaboration with CISO and CIDO.
• Develop strategies for efficient and reliable service delivery, including monitoring, incident management, and capacity planning.
• Ensure adherence to service level agreements (SLAs) and regulatory requirements.
8. Mentorship and Leadership:
• Provide mentorship and technical leadership to full-stack engineers, quality engineers and other IT staff and guide them in best practices for software design, development, and deployment.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning and skill development among engineering teams, encouraging the adoption of new technologies and methodologies.
• Lead by example, demonstrating excellence in technical expertise, problem-solving, and collaboration.
9. IT Operations Management:
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the IT department, including infrastructure management, network operations, help desk support, and system administration.
• Ensure the availability, reliability, and security of IT systems and services, implementing best practices and standards for IT operations management.
• Monitor and evaluate IT performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and optimization.
• Proven subscription to the company's core values of integrity, trust and respect, innovation, stewardship, excellence, and celebration.
Qualifications: • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Proven experience of minimum 15 years in a senior technology leadership role.
• Demonstrated success in leading digital transformation initiatives and driving organizational change.
• Deep understanding of AI, machine learning, and automation technologies, with practical experience in implementation.
• At least 7 years of experience with cloud computing platforms and services, including architecture design, migration, and management.
• Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, Full Stack engineering, architecture, infrastructure, and service management.
• Prior experience or knowledge of the Insurance industry is highly advantageous.
• Prior experience or knowledge of the Insurance industry is highly advantageous.
• Experience in managing the multi cloud and on-premises infrastructures.
• Experience in strategizing, delivering, and deploying Digital, AI, Data and Reporting Analytic applications.
• Experience in building CRM (Salesforce/MS Dynamics), Low Code Platforms (PowerApps/Salesforce/Appian/Outsystems), AI Applications (LLM/GenAI/AI), Data Science Applications (ML/Deep Learning/Predictive Analytics/), High Fidelity Digital Applications (Angular/React/NodeJS/.Net/Java/Python/Apigee/Mulesoft/IBM), DataWarehouse (MS SQLServer/Snowflake/Fabric/Informatica/Talend) and Reporting Platforms (PowerBI/SAP Boxi/Looker/BQ).
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools such as Azure DevOps and AWS CodePipeline.
• Experience with hybrid cloud environments and migration strategies.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
