In this role, you'll play a crucial part in supporting the day-to-day functional operations of the accounts receivable area for the Finance Department. Your primary responsibilities will revolve around resolving customer deductions in a timely manner while identifying trends that influence customer behavior.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of top private label and branded customers
- Ensure timely, accurate entry and maintenance of trade settlements
- Verify promotion event details against customer contracts, and communicate discrepancies
- Identify trends in deductions, such as shortages, damages, unsaleable items, and pricing issues
- Review and manage deduction balances, ensuring proper documentation and information from key customers
- Identify appropriate solutions to reduce and prevent deductions
- Collaborate with Customer Service and Sales teams to resolve deductions (including field sales and brokers regarding short paid invoices and backup documentation)
- Follow up with accounts receivable/customers when additional documentation is required, including customer web-portals
- Support the team manager in reviewing KPIs and providing weekly/monthly updates
- Drive process improvements in the deduction area (e.g., unsaleable items, shortages, payback)
- Work collaboratively with individuals within the department, company, and external brokers and customers
- Identify and implement process improvements, and test new features/functions
- Provide support for internal and external audits
- Perform other general accounting tasks and projects as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, and/or Business
- 2-3 years of related experience in Accounting, Finance
- 1-3 years of relevant work experience in consumer products manufacturing (food and beverage strongly preferred)
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong technical ability and mindset
- Results-driven individual with a proven track record
- Ability to work well independently and on a team
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a typical office setting, drive a motor vehicle, and occasionally work in the field. Frequent activities include sitting, upward and downward neck flexion, fine finger dexterity, light to moderate finger pressure (including extended periods of keyboard and mouse use), side-to-side turning of the neck, walking, standing, bending, stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting at the waist. Occasional activities include squatting, kneeling, reaching above and at shoulder height, moderate grasping to manipulate reference books and manuals, and lifting objects weighing 20-35 lbs. from below waist to above shoulders and transporting distances up to 50 feet.
