Description of Work

The Deafblind and Assistive Technology Program Specialist serve as the Division representative for committees and groups which address the needs of individuals who are deafblind, visually impaired or blind, provides assistance and work activities include:

Organize and facilitate quarterly staff meetings and annual staff training for assistive technology statewide staff as well as for statewide Deafblind Specialists.
Identify assistive technology equipment and software purchases needed and coordinate approved purchases.
Review and propose updates on assistive technology and deafblind policies.
Develop procedures to assist staff with effectively and efficiently performing job duties.
Develop and provide trainings on deafblind topics for internal staff as well as on Division services to external partners.
Provide leadership and coordination for the Division's Assistive Technology Instructor Vendor initiative.
Keep Division management and staff apprised of critical topics related to services for individuals who are deafblind as well as assistive technology services for individuals who are visually impaired or deafblind.
Serve as the statewide coordinator for Division outreach efforts.

Management prefers candidate with the following: Familiarity with iCanConnect/NDBEDP

Experience with utilizing technologies
Physical requirements: Repetitive motions, fingering, sedentary work

PROFESSIONAL CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Master's degree in a discipline relative to the program from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of related experience;
