Summary :
CP Marine is in search of a Database Administrator in the Washington D.C. area. This is designated as a 'Moderate Risk' position. The candidate must be able to favorably pass a background investigation at the Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) level.
Essential Job Functions :
Responsible for day-to-day onsite database support for the development and enhancement of the Surface Transportation Board (STB) information technology enterprise. Support the day-to-day operations for all STB SQL Servers and RedShift Clusters Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues as they arise Analyze and tune databases and ETL for optimal performance Manage database access following STB established procedures Perform database system patching and upgrades to help ensure the security and integrity of STB database systems Perform capacity planning and ensure STB databases and data warehouses have the necessary resources to grow as needed Develop ad-hoc queries based on customer needs Work with Business Stakeholders and Data Engineers to design and implement new or update existing databases as needed Work with the data engineer to develop ETL and data pipelines to automate the movement and transformation of data into the data warehouse Necessary Skills and Knowledge :
Must be proficient with SQL, SQL Server, and other common database applications Should be familiar with RedShift cloud data technology Should understand fundamentals of database integration in software development Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications Must be able to work independently or in a team environment Good written and verbal communication skills Ability to effectively prioritize and escalate issues Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot database issues Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field At least 5+ years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server, Relational Database Services and Redshift database administration Experience developing ETL processes to load data into data warehouses Experience using AWS Data Pipeline to automate the data movement and transformation Knowledge of SDLC Agile and DevOps methodologies Knowledge of database design best practices Demonstrated knowledge of Federal FISMA Security Requirements Experience supporting a multi-database environment Preferred Qualification :
