Data Analyst -AITS (Hybrid/Remote) Admin Info Technology Services Job Summary
The Data Analyst position will be a catalyst to enable units across the university to use data to their greatest advantage. You will understand the business outcomes that clients are trying to achieve and assist them with developing data analytics solutions that will meet that need as appropriate. Additionally, you will coordinate and develop educational programs and courses to enhance the capability of clients to be confident in their ability to effectively use data. As a Data Analyst, you will enhance the capabilities of faculty and staff to use data in innovative ways to enhance the academic, research, and operational mission of the university. You will be helping our clients have a direct impact on student success, research discovery, public service, and healthcare missions of the university. Duties & Responsibilities
Engage and assist university clients with understanding data and how to use it effectively. Synthesize client needs and utilize data analytics tools while working collaboratively to deliver solutions that meet client needs. Work with clients to design data analytics solutions including reports, dashboards, and other related data solutions. Collaborate with data analytics staff to develop data solutions that follow university standards and are sustainable for the long term. Coordinate and develop data education programs to enhance data literacy. Monitor success of developed solutions and sustain usefulness and accuracy by connecting with clients on a regular basis to improve solutions as necessary. Actively learn new data analytics technologies to be better prepared to enhance team and client success. Actively participate in project activities and provide project status to stakeholders and team members. Escalate issues as needed and assess and address risks to ensure project success Actively participate in data analytics tool evaluation, selection, and implementation. Provide input and support for upgrades, capacity planning, and best practices. Perform other duties and responsibilities appropriate for a Data Analyst. Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Any one or any combination totaling two (2) years (24 months) from the following categories: College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent: 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months) Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months) 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months) Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months) Work experience in IT-related functions, such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field. Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience in a higher education environment.
2. Demonstrated experience using data virtualization to create curated data sets to be used for data analytics and reporting.
3. Demonstrated experience working with cloud data storage solutions.
4. Experience with advanced data analytics solutions and use of APIs to work with data.
5. Drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.
6. Demonstrated experience using critical thinking skills to understand client needs, find insights in data and deliver effective solutions.
7. Demonstrated ability to gather requirements and iteratively develop data analytics solutions.
8. Demonstrated experience educating non-technical clients on the use of and development of data analytics solutions.
9. Demonstrated experience with report and data visualization development.
10. Demonstrated experience with educational content development.
11. Demonstrated experience working with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams.
12. Experience with SQL query development.
13. Experience understanding data models and database environments.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and collaborate in a team-oriented environment. Demonstrated ability to be flexible and work well in an agile environment. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Demonstrated attention to detail. Appointment Information This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5031 - Information Technology Technical Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 5/13/2024.The minimum salary for this position is $80,000 and the salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
