Until Filled The Sleeping Giant K-8 School is seeking a qualified Building Daily Substitute for the 2024-25 school year.

Hourly/non-exempt position, Full time position.
Entry pay $21.61-$23.73/hour. Benefit eligilble position JOB SUMMARY:
Ideal candidates will have previous education experience, desire to work with assigned school level students and be able to work with changing roles on a daily basis. The Daily substitute will report to and be assigned by the school Administrator on a daily basis, based upon the staff substitute need. May be assigned in any staff role. (i.e. Teacher, SpEd Paraprofessional, Health Paraprofessional, preschool support, Office staff) Work days will coincide with student days. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: In the absence of the classroom teacher, paraprofessional, etc. the substitute is responsible for providing instruction and managing the learning environment based upon the position they are assigned. Support instruction and assessment aligned with District student outcomes and achievement standards Adapt instruction to meet the learner needs of all students increasing opportunities for advancing learning and achievement Maintain positive interpersonal relationships with students, parents, staff and community members. This position reports to the Principal or designee at the location to which they are assigned Report to the Principal or designee upon arrival at the school. Able to adapt to schedule flexibility as needed by position Review with the Principal or designee and implement the plans and schedules to be adhered to during the school day. Maintain the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which they are assigned. Promote and maintain student behavior expectations conducive to learning and maximize learning time. Follow & teach the approved SSSD curriculum as provided in lesson plans provided by the absent teacher. Interact in a professional manner with students and parents. Encourage, monitor, and promote student progress. Maintain student confidentiality. Assume the responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in the classroom, during lunch, activity periods, and out-of-class settings. Provide a summary report in writing on the day's activities at the conclusion of each day for the teacher/principal as needed. Work cooperatively with all school personnel. Follow all policies, rules, and procedures to which teachers and staff are subject and which good teaching and educational practice dictates. Adhere to the established policies and regulations of the School and District. Perform other duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED required Must have current CDE substitute teacher authorization or current Colorado teaching license. High School Diploma or GED required for 1-year Authorization; BA degree required for 3 or 5-year Authorization Knowledge of or familiarity with the subject(s) to be taught; knowledge of the principles and methodologies of effective classroom teaching. Errors made in decision-making could potentially result in substantial cost to the District or damage to the credibility of the District. Language Skills : Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond professionally to questions from groups of parents, community members, commissions, colleagues and Board of Education. Mathematical Skills : Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, discounts, commissions, proportions, percentage, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, and geometry Reasoning Ability : Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract concrete variables. Technology Skills: Proficient use of technology which includes: basic operations and concepts, word processing, spreadsheets, internet usage, critical evaluation of information, data analysis, email, integration of technology. Other Skills And Abilities: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in budget and finance. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to copy, coordinate, instruct, evaluate and negotiate. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, carry. sit, talk, lift from ground to waist or hear. The employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and twist, and load vehicles. The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Ability to drive District vehicles in varied weather and traffic, obeying all traffic laws.
