What You'll Do as a Criminal Justice Planner: Ohio Department of Public Safety - Office of Criminal Justice Services Report in location: 1970 West Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43223
This position will report in office 3 days a week & telework 2 days a week after successful completion of training. Subject to change. Under direction of the Administrator, writes plans, guidelines & minimum standards for new criminal justice programs, projects, &/or initiatives based on project proposals, compilation & analysis of data recommendations from law enforcement associations &/or criminal justice agencies, associations &/or advisory committees; Researches & reviews project proposals & makes appropriate recommendations; Plans & develops programs & initiatives within the Ohio Incident Based Reporting System (OIBRS) that address data quality, data analytics, functional state system enhancements, etc.; Develops minimum standards, collects & reviews data to ensure reports are consistent with federal & state processes; Assists with administration of the OIBRS system (e.g., monitors data quality, validation errors, data reasonableness & communicate with law enforcement agencies &/or vendors as needed; communicates any system enhancements or bug fixes needed; monitors updates to the National Incident Based reporting system (NIBRS) & Use of Force (UOF) programs & their impact on OIBRS & data verifications; etc.); Updates OIBRS database as needed (i.e., population updates, crime reporting status updates, notes, etc.); Collects & monitors reported data for completeness; Communicates with law enforcement agencies &/or vendors on OIBRS validation, submission questions, data verifications & OIBRS certification process; Updates OIBRS data specs manual & training forms &/or manuals as needed; Performs proactive outreach to law enforcement agencies not participating in OIBRS crime reporting &/or use of force reporting; Attends & participates in planning conferences with state & local agencies/partners & Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) sections.
Prepares planning directives regarding development & implementation of OIBRS projects, programs & services for agencies &/or organizations; Provides guidance on OIBRS policies & procedures, program/project information &/or training; Reviews & provides guidance on grant applications; Performs other duties as assigned.

30 mos. trg. or 30 mos. exp. in planning & monitoring criminal justice programs.



Or completion of undergraduate major core program in criminal justice or related field of study (e.g., penology); 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in planning & monitoring criminal justice program. Or 6 mos. exp. as Criminal Justice Planning Specialist, 64711. Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above. Supplemental Information UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Requires travel which may include overnight stay.
This position may be filled by a layoff or certification eligibility list. This position will be filled in accordance with the applicable bargaining agreement.
