Tiffany & Co. operates a manufacturing facility in Cumberland, RI where jewelry products unique to our company are crafted by a diverse workforce.Position Overview:The Craftsperson's primary focus is on New Product sample creation, ensuring design for manufacturability, product functionality, and integrity, as well as providing design guidance and relevant development input. The Craftsperson will be responsible of translating complex design concepts from CAD (files, models, and drawings), into reality. The Craftsperson will perform duties (cast cleaning, laser welding, soldering,and different setting techniques) associated with the manufacturability of complex and non-complex precious jewelry utilizing their advanced knowledge of technical craft skills and materials and apply these high-level production/repair skills & techniques to work on highly complex pieces (i.e., custom design, multi-stone, one-of-a-kind as supplied by Tiffany & Co.Partner with NPI team on the process, time studies and work instructions. Partner with the Training team to ensure project success as it moves to Manufacturing. Responsible for all craft elements related to the construction and fabrication of production models for internal manufacturing. May mentor less experienced craftspeople and may participate in bench testing assessmentsKey Accountabilities:New Product Sample Creation:Hard Prototypes- Translate design concept, Soft Prototype (SP) or Critical Requirements Document (CRD), into physical samples while adhering to project timelines and delivery dates. Review Components as provided by the engineering lead to ensure adhere to the CRD, mark up Critical Requirements Documents (CRD) as needed, attend technical meetings, participate in the initial time studies, and work instructions if required.Ensure all models created are in keeping with Tiffany best practices, Tiffany quality and manufacturing standards (e.g., metal is not too thin for safety or functionality, clasps function, etc.), and hit the project targets (e.g., edges are crisp and sharp where required, object geometry is not changed and matches agreed project targets and requirements, etc.)Production Test Run: Fabricate multiple samples with the agreed upon production method within the quoted delivery time and to ensure the process can be successfully transferred to production. Coordinate and perform all technical efforts related to the finished sample, jeweler/setting, etc., through the Production Development Department (The Shop). Operations such as jeweler assembly of multiple metals, cast cleaning, tumbling, fabrication of components from wire or plate, and soldering of functional and non-functional jewelry pieces with or without stones. Use Laser Welding skills when requiredExplore alternate methods of fabrication based on business needs- routing times, cost constraintsParticipate in finalizing Tulip work instructions and confirm routing times.Partner with in-house Training Team to pass on process (training the trainer) into production.Communication:Collaborate with NPI leads, New Product Engineers, and Manufacturing SMEs on product functionality, manufacturability, manufacturing methods, and technical design elementsAnalyze and define problems related to existing production models.Repair/refabricate production models with defined corrective action. This element includes all efforts related to spruing of the physical model both within development and as an Engineering Change.Provide input for the CRD (Critical Requirement Document) and work instructions to reflect work steps, order, and timing accuratelyProactively share techniques and personal approaches of the craft, jeweler, setting, and polishing procedures with other team members.Utilize Wrike to check priorities, routing times, timelines, etc.Utilize Tulip work instructions and participate in the creation of work instructions for the new product (same as above).Participates in 5S activities and ensures a clean and safe work environment is maintained.Build partnerships within and across departments to provide efficiency and create a supportive work environment.Maintain a positive and respectful work environment by complying with company policies and procedures while maintaining professional conduct.Work safely at all times by consistently following safe work procedures for your position, as well as all safety procedures required at your worksite. Promptly report all incidents and safety issue to your supervisor/managerRequired Qualifications:3-5 years jewelry bench experience of hands-on in setting, jeweler assembling, and Polishing.Experience in nonfunctional jewelry with or without gemstones, fitting, tampering, and drilling with a microscope, and/or has demonstrated the ability, experience, and skillset corresponding to Tiffany Level 3 in the following areas- Jeweler, Setter, PolisherKnowledge of all jewelry architectural construction and tools as well as precious metal properties. Some experience in building, repairing, and troubleshooting materials manufacturing processes while maintaining design integrity.Cast Clean - Sprue removal/blending, Casting lines, Repairs, Removal of casting skin, Shaping, Sizing, cleaning of windows, Burnishing, Laser Welding, Laser tacking, FittingKnowledge of stone and pearl properties, setting techniques, and stylesAbility to read and interpret design renderings, CAD drawings, blueprints, or engineering documentsStrong attention to detailStrong independent problem-solving skills and resolutionsAbility to adapt to change for the needs of the company; flexibility is importantAbility to work in a high-volume fast-paced work atmosphereAbility to communicate issues clearly to immediate supervisor/manager as well as internal teamInterpersonal skills, ability to work and communicate with others in a constructive and professional mannerAbility to work overtime and weekend overtime as business needs ariseIntermediate math and computer knowledge (office, word, excel)Coaching and knowledge sharing of peersPreferred Qualifications:GIA certificationGood communication skills-Written and Oral, ability to read and follow all established safety and manufacturing procedures.Interpersonal skills, ability to work and communicate with others in a constructive and professional manner.Good communication skills-Written and Oral.#LI-EO1
