Program Assistant - Custody Advocacy Team Council for Children's Rights (CFCR) is seeking a full-time Program Assistant to join its Custody Advocacy Program (CAP). This individual will report to the Director of Custody Advocacy and will have the primary responsibility of supporting CAP attorneys. However, this individual may also provide support to the agency as a whole, as needed.
CAP represents the best interests of minor children who are caught in the middle of high-conflict custody cases. These cases are handled in domestic court and routinely involve highly sensitive issues such as mental health, substance abuse, domestic violence, alienation, and emotional/physical abuse.
Please submit resume and cover letter. No calls or emails please. Responsibilities Include: Welcoming visitors to CFCR, opening/closing office, and answering office phones as needed. Managing CAP's Appointment Sheet, and handling courthouse runs to copy new case files. Serving as an initial point of contact for the court, parties, and parties' attorneys, which includes gathering initial paperwork and building new case files. Submitting orders and filing documents electronically through Odyssey Integrated Case Management System. Handling all records requests for CAP. Monitoring family court calendars and appearing at virtual calendar calls to schedule trials. Performing other administrative tasks such as preparing and mailing correspondence, answering calls and emails, and scheduling meetings for CAP attorneys. Adhering to all Council for Children's Rights policies and procedures. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years legal administrative experience are preferred. Must possess strong communication skills and the ability to work with adults and children from diverse backgrounds who are in crisis situations. Must have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and computer/data-entry skills, including the ability to learn various case management systems. Must be able to work effectively within the team structure of CAP, across programs in the agency, and as a participant in a culture of philanthropy. Must conduct oneself with the highest integrity in all interactions, with a particular focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion. Preference will be given to applicants who have a demonstrated commitment to child advocacy, experience in family law, and/or previous volunteer experience with CFCR.
