Rotochopper is seeking a talented Cost Accountant to join our team and play a key role in our financial operations.The Cost Accountant will apply principles of cost accounting to implement and maintain detailed cost information. This position will perform advanced cost accounting analyses to compare standard costs to actual costs and prepare a variety of related financial planning and analysis reports.ResponsibilitiesGather and compile cost information and ensure accurate costing for Rotochopper's product. Responsible for maintaining accurate standard costs, working collaboratively with Engineering, Procurement, Quality Control, and Operations staff as needed. Conduct the annual cost role, ensuring all material, labor and overhead rates have been calculated accurately and are up to date. Analyze and evaluate product costs monthly, identifying and understanding any variances from standard, including but not limited to scrap, re-work, deviations, and labor inefficiencies. Monitor and report on inventory levels, ensuring accurate valuation and reconciliation. Quarterly audits the Cycle Count program and ensures appropriate controls are in place. Ensure appropriate controls are in place for the accurate consumption and use of inventory in the production of the companys products. Ensure appropriate valuation of all purchased material or products and can explain monthly purchase price variances. Calculate quarterly the Excess and Obsolete Inventory Reserve. Assist with the Monthly, Quarterly and Annual financial close process performing journal entries, reconciliations, and other month-end duties. Produce and distribute bi-weekly labor Efficiency and Machine Utilization reports. Review, analyze, and report profit margins. Assist in costing for all New Product Development and Cost Out Projects. Provide management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services. Assist in development of the companies costing process, procedures, and systems.QualificationsBachelors degree in accounting, finance or economics required. At least two years experience in cost accounting required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software, as well as accounting software. Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Previous experience working with a Standard Costing system. Can demonstrate an in-depth understanding of Material, Labor & Overhead costing methodology.Rotochopper is an EOE employer.
