ResponsibilitiesAs a member of the Finance team, the Cost Accounting Analyst will be responsible for setting costs on an annual basis and ongoing cost management. This includes analysis on standard costs versus actuals and explaining variances. The Cost Accounting Analyst will engage in major projects including assisting in organizational price increases or collaborating on cost and pricing targets for new product development. As needed the Cost Accounting Analyst will help support the general needs of the organization with financial reporting, variance analysis, month/year-end close, and other needs as determined by the Controller or CFO. This position will work cross-functionally with other departments.
Qualifications and Other DetailsMaintaining costs on all productions in Standard cost and FIFO cost environments.
Establish costs on new items, both purchased and manufactured.
Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, and manufacturing methods to determine effects on costs.
Review existing processes and recommend process improvements to gain efficiency.
Participate in cost reduction initiatives, including idea generation and tracking.
Analyze manufacturing and cost data; convert data into relevant insights and actionable recommendations.
Assist with establishing product sales pricing and support organizational price increases.
Analyze the cost of goods sold and explain variances in budget and history.
Review and understand month-end cost-related variances, including PPV, material, labor, scrap, and overhead absorption.
Perform standard cost updates on an annual basis, including updating labor and overhead rates.
Work with the Engineering team on new product development projects to set cost targets.
Work with the inventory team on cycle counts, obsolete inventory, and scrap adjustments.
Month-end inventory reconciliation and reporting.
Support and prepare work papers and financial schedules for year-end review and external audits, as needed.
Perform other duties as needed.
A degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
3-5 plus years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing industry practices and processes
Solid understanding of cost accounting and inventory principles
High proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
