Currently, KCI is comprised of 15 separate types of industry, maintained in 8 correctional facilities across the state. KCI employs more than 700 inmates teaching job skills to reduce recidivism and to make these individuals more productive members of society. The Correctional Industries Production Coordinator plays a vital role in the mission of KCI by overseeing the manufacturing and production operation. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have two years of specific trade(s) experience in welding, metalworking, woodworking, sewing machine operating, sign making, graphic arts, offset, photolithographic or screen process printing, wood furniture making, paneling, clothing manufacturing, furniture upholstering, furniture refinishing, mattress manufacturing, soap manufacturing, metal fabricating, embroidery, two-way radio repair, or data entry work. One year of the required experience must include the supervision of employees in any field. Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education in one of the above fields will substitute for one year of the specific trades experience on a year-for-year basis.
