OVERVIEW The Sunshine Lady House for Mental Health Wellness and Recovery is an Adult Residential Crisis Stabilization Unit. Sunshine provides crisis interventions that include brief therapeutic treatment, peer recovery services, medication management, skill restoration, health education, psycho-therapeutic, and psychoeducational groups. The program also provides medically managed detox for those individuals who are experiencing both mental health symptoms and substance use challenges. Sunshine provides services in a non-institutional, home like setting. The 12 bed program provides family style meals in a home like setting. Sunshine staff consist of licensed mental health professionals, qualified mental health professions, peer recovery specialists, registered nurse, licensed professional nurses, nurse practitioners/psychiatrist and contracted medical providers. Sunshine Lady House is part of the Crisis Continuum to address mental health needs.
The coordinator manages a licensed mental health facility operating on a 24/7 basis providing clients in psychiatric/behavioral crisis highly intensive mental health services and temporary residential care and/or referral involving psychiatric, neuropsychiatric, psychological, behavioral and other functional assessments; stabilization management; medication management; intensive care and case management services and training of and support to families, other caregivers and service providers. Work is performed under broad supervision and is guided by agency policies and procedures, quality assurance, public and private payor guidelines, diagnostic guidelines and professional practices and including ethical standards related to client interactions, state and federal licensure and accreditation regulations and guidelines.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Oversees the operation of the Crisis Stabilization Program to include recruitment and development of staff, shift scheduling, supervision and evaluation; program record-keeping and reporting; clients and staff records maintenance; program policy and procedures; program health and safety and program rules. Provides clinical oversight for QMHP-type and LMHP-type staff conducting intake assessment, individual evaluation and safety planning, and individual/family therapy. Provides operational oversight for program medical function that is supervised by the Nurse Manager. Provides direct service as needed including client intake, assessment and client/family therapy. Monitors client documentation, programs and facilities for compliance to program, agency, licensure, quality assurance and Medicaid and other payor policy, standards, guidelines and requirements. Oversees input of service and other documentation to the electronic records system. Assesses service needs, monitors program budget and revenue generation and deploys appropriate staff and other resources. Participates in budget preparation, implements and makes adjustment recommendations. Develops and implements program methods, policies and procedures. Reviews and responds to client referrals made to the program in collaboration with program Assistant Coordinator and Intake Specialist. Conducts risk assessments for clients requesting to leave against staff advice and coordinates client needs with Emergency Services. Enforces health and safety regulations and conduct periodic safety drills and monthly facility inspections. Makes agency health and safety recommendations as part of the Health and Safety Committee. Compose letters, memorandums and program reports that address program goals, client issues, facility updates and recommendations and program progress. Attends interdisciplinary, inter-agency and community-based meetings relating to client treatment. Recommends repair and renovations to facility and facility equipment. Provides supervision to the program on an after-hours on-call basis in rotation with the Assistant Crisis Stabilization Coordinator. Does related work as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :
Extensive knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques involved in the diagnosis and general treatment of the mental health crisis population, and secondary groups representing substance abusive, mentally and/or emotionally disabled populations; thorough knowledge of licensing requirements for the program and facility; thor­ough knowledge of client and family therapy and counseling techniques and practices; thorough knowledge of client manage­ment guidelines for Virginia; thorough knowledge of the laws and legal procedures relating to hospital admission; thorough knowledge of the medical procedures, treatment providers and other agencies in service to the client population; considerable knowledge of community resources; considerable knowledge of building maintenance; considerable knowledge of social casework management, including need assessment and supportive level counseling; some knowledge of public budgeting; ability to establish and maintain rapport with the client population; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff of other private and public agencies and organizations; ability to plan the work of, train, supervise and evaluate subordinates; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to operate a vehicle; ability to prepare complex recommendations, proposals, reports, etc.; ability to function calmly in stressful situa­tions; ability to conduct effective interviews, observe, assess and record individual behaviors and functioning and develop treatment and service plans .
TYPICAL EDUCATION, TRAINING AND WORK EXPERIENCE Master's Degree in the Behavioral Sciences and considerable therapeutic counseling experience including crisis intervention and stabilization of mentally and/or emo­tionally disabled individuals, or combination of education and experience to produce necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. State licensure and qualified Pre-screener.
LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATIONS: LMHP required (LPC, LCSW, LMFT) . Approved Clinical Supervisor with the Virginia Board of Counseling preferred. Valid VA driver's license. First Aid and CPR. Training in Therapeutic Options (THEROPS)
