DUTIES
Prepare all necessary menu items in accordance with established standards, serve it attractively, and at proper temperature. Implements proper cleaning and food handling to ensure optimal infection control.
JOB KNOWLEDGE AND ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Reads menus, recipes, and reviews with Dietary Services Managers all necessary steps in meal preparation.
2.Prepare all necessary menu items in accordance with established standards.
3.Determines quantity of all food needed in meal preparation.
4.Follows recipes.
5.Use proper food preparation and handling techniques.
6.Prepares substitute items to meet resident's individual needs.
7.Serves meal using portions listed on menu.
8.Covers, dates, and labels all leftovers and stores properly.
9.Follows established security routine.
10.Uses proper infection control techniques and protective equipment as needed.
11.Uses proper safety techniques.
12.Receives and checks all deliveries against invoices in absence of Director of Dietary Services or Assistant Director of Dietary Services.
QUALIFICATIONS
SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Education: Tenth grade or above desirable.
2.Prefer experience in dietary department, large volume food preparation including therapeutic diets, and service of food.
3.Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with other staff members, referral sources, residents and their families and physicians.
4.Basic math skills.
5.Understands principles of growth and development for the entire life span with the ability to provide care appropriate for the adolescent, adult, and geriatric residents as appropriate to the resident population.
6.Ability to read, speak, and understand the English language.
