Job summary
The Cook is responsible for providing wholesome, nutritious, and attractive food served at the appropriate temperature.This position reports to the Dining Services Director.High school diploma or GED and minimum two years of cooking experience preferred.
Job seniority: entry level
Responsibilities
• Prepare and serve food using high quality ingredients and appropriate garnishes.• Monitor and record food temperatures during storage, preparation, cooking, and serving.• Label, date, and properly store all foods.• Control overproduction and waste of food items.• Comply with state and local rules and regulations for a clean and safe kitchen.• Responsible for washing and sanitizing food service equipment.• Responsible for cleaning cook's area, freezers, refrigerators, and storage areas.• Follow established safety procedures while operating kitchen equipment.• Check inventory of supplies daily to ensure proper stock levels.• Mop and clean kitchen as needed.• Remove garbage to dumpster as needed.• Report equipment and safety issues to the Food Service Director.• Work as a team member to maintain a pleasant work environment.• Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED.• Minimum two years cooking experience preferred.• Serv-Safe Certification preferred.• Physical requirements include the ability to communicate effectively and lift/carry up to 40 pounds.• Must have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
