Controller (remote options) Location Remote in Fulton, MO : The Controller is responsible for overseeing Business Services operations and its personnel covering the accounts payable, general ledger and investment accounting. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Ø Assists VP-CFO on projects when needed and serves as a backup for certain administrative tasks performed by the VP-CFO.
Ø Work with Auditors and prepare audit schedules and other information, confirmations, etc. as required for completion of Audit process.
Ø Maintains paperwork and documentation of the University's Equestrian Inventory. Prepares horse papers for transfer and maintains inventory and past history of horses. Handles all IRS reporting requirements in conjunction with donated horses.
Ø Responsible for all Federal Funds including but not limited to Pell Grant, Federal Work Study, Federal SEOG grant, and all other funds. Tasks include drawing funds, maintaining all records, and overseeing any and all audits of funds by the Federal Government.
Ø Responsible for all General Ledger accounting activity, month end closing procedures as well as all year end closing and reporting procedures.
Ø Prepares general ledger budget reports of monthly activity, or more often as required, for distribution to department and division heads, Cabinet Members, and the President.
Ø Preparation of the bank reconciliations for all funds/accounts.
Ø Maintain cash balance at bank.
Ø Oversight of Student Agency accounts.
Ø Preparation of schedules for all Federal 990 reporting.
Ø Reconciliation of Endowment accounts including individual endowment funds as well as the general University Endowment. Record all transactions within general ledger and track performance in conjunction with CFO and in accordance with Endowment Investment Policy.
Ø Prepare the following reports as required:
o Federal & FICA Tax
o State Tax
o Missouri Unemployment Compensation
o Federal Funds Cash Draw
o Credit References
o W2's
o 1099's
o 1098's
o Various other reports upon request
Ø Keys and adjusts the budget.
Ø Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements: Ø Master's degree or bachelor's degree with equivalent work experience required.
Ø Missouri Licensed CPA preferred.
Ø Prior experience in Higher Education Accounting or related field, with 7+ years of accounting experience preferred.
Ø Knowledge of and ability to work with fund accounting or related experience.
Typical Physical Demands: Ø Ability to operate office machinery.
Ø Ability to speak and read English fluently.
Ø Ability to hear.
Ø Ability to use a computer and various software including Microsoft Office Suite and Jenzabar administrative computing system.
Ø Ability to communicate effectively with employees, faculty and staff members, parents, students, auditors, etc.
Ø Effective mobility skills required to move about freely and quickly in office and on campus.
Work Schedule: This is an exempt position requiring 40+ hours per week, 12-month position with evening or weekend work as needed.
