Position Overview
This is a key role supporting operations, supply chain, engineering, accounting, and finance initiatives through collaboration with various departments across the Organization. This person will partner with the corporate finance team to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance under US GAAP for all activities and will also partner with operational and engineering leadership to measure progress towards productivity and efficiency goals. The position offers high visibility and professional growth opportunities for a candidate who thrives on creating, implementing, and sustaining new processes in a growth-oriented environment. The position will be based in Las Cruces, NM at CALCULEX's main facility. The position will require an ability to work collaboratively with the internal CALCULEX team consisting of engineering, HR, Quality, sales and marketing, procurement, and manufacturing. The position will report directly to the corporate CFO, and dotted line report into the General Manager.
Scope of Responsibility
Finance
Responsible for working closely with corporate finance leadership to manage the accounting and financial planning processes including P&L planning, balance sheet objectives, and specific business metrics for manufacturing and engineering Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded to support a timely month end close process. Responsible for financial analysis and decision support, as necessary, in support of strategic initiatives and/or other improved efficiency goals Responsible for tracking and monitoring engineering spending to properly allocate costs to individual projects and measure progress toward development milestones Provide cash forecasts to the Corporate Finance team Actively seek to improve systems which support financial closing, analyses and needs of other departments Maintain historical and current Price Catalog, assist with updates, and ensure current version in use both internally and with company representative companies Work closely with VP / GM and local management to develop pricing models for all bids and proposals; develop and maintain overhead rate calculations and use/improve existing pricing methodology Assist with the maintenance of sales and backlog reports Assist with the coordination of external audit activities and audit preparation
Inventory Management & Control
In coordination with the Purchasing team, analyze, review and support material purchase plans and supply agreements to drive improved levels of service, quality, and cost Assist with the development and implementation of cycle count procedures, ensuring accuracy of inventory counts, analyzing results, book-to-physical reconciliations, investigating variances, and resolving issues Monitor adequacy of inventory reserves through analysis of shrinkage, obsolescence, and excess quantities Assist with maintenance of cost systems for the bill of materials and routings as needed Assist in the implementation and optimization of a perpetual inventory system to manage manufacturing activities within a new ERP (NetSuite) Budget Control
Support annual budgeting process and budget to actual reporting Define key assumptions for the budget and forecasting that drive cost and activity at the production facility i.e., volumes, headcount, labor efficiency, overhead spend and absorption, etc. Develop and update production financial plans including COGS forecasts for sales plans as well as cash flow forecasts for quarterly, annual, and long-range planning process Maintain budget control and monitoring for all costs incurred including engineering, production, and overhead expenses Manage a cost control system that effectively and accurately measures costs and production variances and allows for accurate projections of operating results Essential Skills
Ability to work in fast paced, deadline orientated environment Strong analytic skills Detail oriented Strong written and oral communication skills Critical thinking and problem-solving skills Ability to work in a team environment Multi-task ability and can handle several issues simultaneously Hands on experience with ERP systems, (NetSuite knowledge a plus) Experience & Education A progressive work history in accounting or operations Experience in a manufacturing or plant environment CPA or CMA designation is a plus Cost accounting experience is required High degree of proficiency in Excel
