Long Island based global-leader in critical preparation materials, dedicated to advancement of surfacing and polishing technologies, is seeking a highly skilled energetic Controller/Director of Finance. The Finance leader with corporate experience will fill a crucial role. The successful candidate will be responsible for the organizations accounting functions, financial policies, procedures and planning. This is a hands-on position!
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
Manage and maintain a high-preforming accounting team.
Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated close procedures and ensure the timeliness, efficiency, and accuracy of information used to prepare internal financial reporting to management.
Review monthly-consolidated financial statements along with variance analysis and all account reconciliations
Direct the activities of all accounting functions, including accounting, treasury, payables, billing and credit and collections.
Oversee the compiling of cost standards, BOM and inventory valuations.
Prepare monthly sales reports
Collaborate with the CFO, cross-functional leaders, and other members of the finance team to provide advice on financial implications of business activities and to ensure business objectives are delivered.
Collaborate with external auditors and manage audit requests to drive timely completion of annual audits.
Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting
Manage the all property and liability insurance coverages
Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
Coordinate the ISO process for the department, development and documentation of business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Perform other related duties and projects as necessary or assigned.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
CPA and/or MBA a plus
10 years total accounting experience with progressively more responsible experience.
10 years' experience in accounting leadership role.
At least 5 years in the manufacturing industry.
Strong leadership skills to motivate and manage a small team
In-depth knowledge of financial concepts, accounting principles, and practices
Financial statement consolidation a must
Inventory analysis reconciliation and costing experience
Strong technical accounting skills with experience in balance sheet reconciliation
Expert in Excel
Excellent written and oral communications skills are also required
SAP by Design experience is a big plus.
Ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships across the organization
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and to find solutions to unusual and difficult problems.
Excellent attention to details
Ability to be adaptable and flexible and operate effectively in a growing environment
