At a Glance Legrand  has an exciting opportunity for a Continuous Improvement Lead to join the Lighting Sector, Original Cast Lighting (OCL) Team in  Saint Louis, MO. The Continuous Improvement Lead serves as leader for Continuous Improvement (CI) within the organization. This position uses knowledge of CI processes to recognize opportunities for improvement across all aspects of the business. The CI Champion is accountable for the implementation of the company's strategy development and deployment, improvement projects and process accountability. This role will focus on 5 key areas of CI: culture, engagement, support, analysis, and results. Position reports to plant manager.
What Will You Do? To support the organization in implementing lean transformation and standard daily management across including: Implement tactical strategies to achieve the desired operational vision. Execute activities against long and short-term objectives to support the Plant's KPI's and goals. Work with necessary site personnel to identify, address, and eliminate process related obstacles and waste. Assist in the change systems/processes as required in support of the lean initiatives. Utilize value stream mapping techniques to design optimal product, material and information flow methodologies. To act as a change agent to bring improvements to the overall plant through active support, facilitation, and leadership of Kaizen events; including: Coaching and following-up on pre-work and post-work standards. Participate in Gemba walks, coaching employees on continuous improvement, standard work, and waste reduction. Coach employees on problem solving techniques. Help create, update, and maintain visual management tools. To support activities needed to incorporate lean transformation and daily management into the Plant culture: Assist in the identification and facilitation of lean and continuous improvement training to the hourly and salaried staff. Drive an Operational Excellence culture, through coaching employees, to drive lean behaviors, and follow the Legrand Way. Facilitate the completion of the Legrand Way Radar to identify focus areas to improve in lean culture. Coach the Legrand Way Values to all employees. Track improvements made to the Plant to provide assurance that changes are effective and sustainable: Audit the areas after improvements are implemented. Monitor and report on key metrics. Required Skills Education: Bachelor's Degree in a science, engineering, math, business, or other technical related field. Experience: Five (5) years or more supporting Lean/CI activities in an industrial manufacturing & assembly or customer service environment are required. One (1) or more years leading kaizens and training teams on lean principles & tools is a requirement. Additional experience accepted over Six Sigma Green Belt certification; must have managed at least two LEAN/CI projects per year. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must possess strong written and oral communication and presentation skill with the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences. Ability to effectively facilitate activities and discussions using a defined process. Ability to write reports, general business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to create standard work documents and work instructions. Ability to collect and interpret data from sources such as data warehouse, existing Excel reports, developing data collection systems, interviews, or observations. Interpersonal Skills: Reasoning Ability. Ability to define problem areas, collect data, and establish facts. Ability to interpret a variety of technical processes. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced and changing work environment. Able to create effective reports, presentations and business correspondence and be comfortable presenting such to senior Legrand leadership and key customers. Strong executive presence. Strong leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to supervise and manage others. Provide leadership, guidance, development and motivation to staff to achieve superior results and accomplish overall business objectives.
Computer Skills: Strong capability with personal computer applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio). Experience with project management tools such as Microsoft Project or Smartsheet is preferred.
