CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Construction Safety Specialist to join our Health & Safety team in our Birmingham, AL to support our field work operations primarily in the Southeast.

Our approach involves adapting strategies and solutions to meet the ever-changing demands of buildings and the environment, while promoting safety and efficiency.
The Construction Safety Specialist is responsible for assisting our Fire Protection Services team headquartered in Birmingham, AL in the development of project submittals, site specific safety plans, Job Hazard Analyses, as well as supplemental programs/submittals for high-risk work activities (e.g., Work at Height, Permit-Required Confined Space Entry, Forklift Operation, Mobile Elevated Work Platforms). Additional duties will include attending pre-construction meetings, Site Safety Officer responsibilities, conducting weekly job site visits/safety audits, conducting Incident Investigations/Root Cause Analysis, and promoting close call reporting and sharing lessons learned. This role would involve up to 50% intrastate and interstate travel supporting fire sprinkler system installation operations across the Southeast (including but not limited to AL, GA, NC, SC, TN, and FL).
The successful candidate will reinforce our People First approach to safety by focusing on minimizing the risk of workplace incidents, injuries, and exposure to hazards for our employees, partners, and the public. The Construction Safety Specialist is responsible for implementing and reinforcing our Corporate Safety standards, promoting a proactive safety culture within our Fire Protection Services Business Practice and developing safety protocols in compliance with OSHA, state, local and client requirements.

Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, or Environmental Health & Safety required; or, relevant construction/sprinkler installation and site safety experience may be considered 3+ years of construction site safety experience preferred Safety Certification (Construction Health and Safety Technician or similar preferred) Specialized Safety Training – OSHA 30-Hour Construction, Personal Fall Arrest System Authorized Person, Forklift Operator, Mobile Elevated Work Platform Authorized Operator, Permit-Required Confined Space Entry Safety instruction experience preferred, specifically Personal Fall Arrest System Authorized User and Permit Required Confined Space entry.
